12 Getting to Sandy Run For practices: carpool, self-drive, ride the bus
Runs M-F during school, OHS>Sandy Run>OHS Returns to OHS ~6:15pm (February 21 - March 10) Returns to OHS ~7:15pm (starting March 13) $325 for full season of transportation Parents must sign up to chaperone one round-trip Contact Steve Boyette for help –

14 Rowing Waiver – US Rowing / VASRA
Very Important! All rowers/parents must go to Parents must fill out waiver for rowers under 18 Rowers can do it if over 18 Athletes and Parent Go to Enter our Club Code - AASHJ Enter two of the following:   Name, Birthdate, or USRowing MemberID.   If the athlete is not yet in the system you will be able to add your record. View and update your profile  (address, contact information, emergency contact information, etc).  You may also upload a photo (optional). Read and Agree to Waiver submission. You will receive a confirmation The ENTIRE team will NOT be allowed to row in any regattas unless EVERYONE on the team submits a waiver. We must complete this by March 1.

Practices lead to good technique / safe technique Cuts may be made for SAFETY or ATTITUDE issues Sandy Run Behavior Expectations Speed limit strictly enforced Foul language policy strictly enforced – boats or teams could be banned from events and/or regattas No offensive clothing Respect for everyone’s equipment. We share the boat house with many other teams Practice Schedule Pre-Season Spring Break In Season Race Line-ups Alert Head Coaches to absences for regattas

16 Expectations – On the Water
Approximately 30 minutes from OHS to Sandy Run DRIVE carefully and obey speed limits at the park Penalties for repeat violators of speed limit Parking and driving patterns – handout Parking and Trails Warm but lightweight layers Avoid cotton/sweatpants No gloves! Easy to slip off/stow shoes Flip flops/crocs Need a good snack for AFTER practice

17 Expectations – Regatta Day
Races posted at the day before Will distribute race schedule to OCCBC night before the race or as soon as schedule is available Coach tells kids when to arrive Parking Options At Sandy Run – PAY $$ Parking at Silverbrook Elementary school is FREE OCCBC sponsors and shares a shuttle bus with other schools Options for getting to the Viewing Stands Walk along shoreline for about minutes to stands $2/3 for van ride from Sandy Run parking lot to end of course During the race Bring binoculars and folding chairs (or sit in stands) Concessions/restrooms/t-shirts/program At the boathouse and at the finish line stands After the race Wait in stands, walk/shuttle back to boathouses – it takes some time!

Finances Rowers pay own way – approx $200 for each of the regattas Includes lodging, transportation, food Need Parent Volunteers Drivers for rowers, coaches and equipment Food Donation/Preparation Cookouts on Regatta Grounds Chaperones (hall ‘buddies’) A Rower/Parent meeting will occur about 2-3 weeks before Stotes Parents welcome to attend these regattas Hotel rooms are blocked for parents for Stotesbury and SRAAs Steve Boyette
