Let’s take a quick look at the requirements for each path…

4. EVSC and
Intended to prepare students for admission to four- year colleges and universities, one and two-year colleges and technical schools, and/or successful entry into the workforce.
English: 8 credits
Social Studies: 6 credits
Mathematics: 6 credits
Science: 6 credits (4 credits for Standard Diploma)
Health: 1 credit
P.E.: 3 credits
Directed Electives or Career/Technical Electives
Total: credits

5. With Academic Honors • Complete all requirements for Core 40.
• Earn 2 additional Core 40 math credits
• Earn 6-8 Core 40 world language credits (6 credits in one language or 4 credits each in two languages).
• Earn 2 Core 40 fine arts credits.
• Earn a grade of a “C” or better in courses that will count toward the diploma.
• Have a grade point average of a “B” or better.
• Complete one of the following:
A. Earn 4 credits in 2 or more AP coursed & take corresponding AP exams
B. Earn 6 verifiable transcripted college credits in dual credit coursed from the approved dual credit list. (Usually 2 classes)
C. Or a combination:
1. A minimum of 3 verifiable transcripted college credits from the approved dual credit list,
2. 2 credits in AP courses & corresponding AP exams,
D. Earn a combined score of 1750 or higher on the SAT (all 3 sections) with a minimum score of 530 on each
E. Earn an ACT composite score of 26 or higher & complete written section

6. Core With Technical Honors
• Complete all requirements for Core 40. • Earn 6 credits in the college & career preparation courses in a state- approved College & Career Pathway & one of the following: 1. State approved, industry recognized certification of credential, or 2. Pathway dual credits from the approved dual credit list resulting in 6 transcripted college credits • Earn a grade of “C” or better in courses that will count toward the diploma. • Have a grade point average of a “B” or better. • Complete one of the following, A. Any one of the options (A-F) of the Core 40 w/Academic Honors B. Earn the following scores of higher on WorkKeys; Reading for Information- Level 6, Applied Mathematics-Level 6, & Locating Information-Level 5 C. Earn the following minimum score(s) on Accuplacer: Writing 80, Reading 90, Math 75. D. Earn the following minimum score(s) on Compass; Algebra 66, Writing 70, Reading 80

7. General (or Standard) Diploma
Students who meet the minimum graduation requirements established by the Evansville-Vanderburgh School Corporation and the State of Indiana but do not meet the Core 40 requirements may graduate with a General Diploma.

8. The Diploma. . . . In order to graduate and receive a diploma:
1. You must have 41 credits & pass both the ISTEP 10 English and ISTEP 10 Math. or
2. You must have 41 credits, a 95% attendance rate and qualify in accordance to the waiver work sheet.

9. Graduation Waiver
Student must have a 2.0 GPA across 34 classes listed by the State of Indiana.
Student must have 95% attendance.
Student must take ISTEP each time it is offered.
Students must be enrolled in math &/or English labs.
Your counselor will conference with you and your parent/guardian to explain your particular waiver circumstances if necessary your senior year.

10. ENROLLMENT
Fill out top of enrollment form: enter name, homeroom teacher, and 10th for grade level.
You should circle the equivalent of 7 classes – English & Math placement will be decided by current teacher.
Make sure to pick alternate electives – depending on schedule, 1st choice doesn’t always work out!
Turn in enrollment forms to HR teacher or counselor by Tuesday, November 22nd (before Thanksgiving)
Your counselor will meet with you individually during your English class on Nov. 30th or Dec. 1st to make sure your classes are correct & you are meeting your graduation plan.

11. Junior Year You will need to enroll in:
English (level determined by current English teacher)
Math (level determined by current Math teacher)
Science
PE/Health if still needed
Core Courses not passed
Electives (determined by Diploma Path)
Challenge yourself! Many great electives & opportunities to earn college credit while in high school – also classes with a * will need teacher approval

13. Medical Professions Academy Junior Year!
Are you interested in majoring in science, or a health profession such as Nursing, Physical Therapy, Pre-Med, Pre-Vet, etc.?
Apply to the Medical Professions Academy for your Junior year!
Application is online on MPA website
Should have had Biology & preferably enrolled in Chemistry right now
MPA classes will be in the AM, regular schedule in the PM and will include AP English, AP Biology, AP Psychology, Medical Interventions & Medical Terminology

14. Southern Indiana Career and Technical Center
Apply online at before Winter Break
Juniors attend everyday in the morning, come back to Central for lunch and 2 periods.

15. Attendance is Important!
Loss of credits (10 days out)
Loss of drivers license
Loss of work permit
Denial of waiver for graduation
Loss of citizenship/final exam exemptions/dance privileges - 3 periods of truancy or 6 lates = loss of citizenship, 10 lates or 5 periods of truancy = loss of dance privileges

16. PSAT
PSAT- Results should arrive in early December, and we will meet during Academic Support to discuss scores in January.
If you plan to take a Concurrent Credit class as a Junior, your PSAT scores may determine whether or not you can take the class for college credit or have to take the Accuplacer your Junior year.
SAT/ACT test should be taken Junior year
