Restructure implemented to help guide sponsors when determining which grant is appropriate for the associate’s situation, if any Pre-approval is now required PRIOR to collecting funds for matching purposes The Fund declines requests that qualify for Direct Grants Matching Grant collections may be done with CASH ONLY Make checks payable to creditor where possible Cap matching amount based on actual need $2-for-$1 match still applies, up to actual need

16 Associate’s Role in Application Process
Associates in need SHOULD take the eligibility quick-test on the home page of The Homer Fund’s website Associates in need SHOULD let their manager, ASDS or HR personnel know of their hardship Associates SHOULD complete and compile the supporting documentation packet prior to partnering with a sponsor Associates SHOULD return completed documentation and copies of bills to their manager, ASDS or HR personnel

17 Sponsor’s Role in Application Process
Sponsors act as liaison between the associate in need and The Homer Fund team Sponsors should only complete the electronic application AFTER going through the eligibility quick-test and getting the supporting documentation packet from the associate Sponsors SHOULD provide guidance and support to the associate in need throughout the application process

Unforeseen hardship Although Dave has paid his rent on time, his landlord has not paid the mortgage, resulting in a foreclosure. Dave needs help moving into a new residence. Fire in home Dave’s home was damaged in a fire. He has insurance to cover the repairs, but needs help paying the deductible. Matching Grant Associate’s spouse died Dave’s wife passed away and there was no life insurance. The Direct Grant will help with funeral expenses. Store wants to help pay for the grave marker. Increase first-time associate volunteer participation - Districts with the highest percentage of first- time volunteers at a single project will receive special recognition Project Requirements: Online applications submitted 3+ weeks prior to project with a minimum of 20 associates completed project sign-in sheets to Spring is a busy season for us all yet there is a natural yearning to get outdoors release the cabin fever and put our loving hands to work in communities. This is also a great time to introduce new associates to The Home Depot culture and value of giving back.

Focus on quality veteran projects and get creative Ask organizations how they plan to thank associate volunteers Will there be a follow up with associates regarding the veterans they helped; Take before, during after pictures and videos to share Split your project day into shifts, engage volunteers on prep days Celebration of Service 2017 is about Celebrating our Associates who passionately live our values everyday. All year long they pour their hearts into communities across this county, Mexica and Canada. Team Depot is unique to the volunteer world because of our Associates leadership, passion, skill set and power in numbers. We take September 1st through November 11th to come together as a company and volunteer in communities focusing our efforts on improving the homes and spaces or veterans spend considerable time in. Great projects take time to reveal themselves and plan so we want to think about it early, go outside the box to give associates opportunities to participate even if its not on the main project day. We can create moments of engagement throughout the process for volunteers to take measurements, draw up plans and layouts, take photographs, interview the veteran(s) and create a story board for associates back at the store, a registration (raffle) and lunch committee, a clean-up crew that comes in an hour before the project ends, prep day volunteers etc. We can give the most associates an opportunity to be a part of the project.
