2 Attendance and Tardies
After 3 tardies, the student will receive after school detention and will not be able to receive perfect attendance Campus warning letter after 3 unexcused absences or 4 tardies District warning letter after 4 unexcused absences or 8 tardies Each additional absence or tardy without a doctor’s note will become a court issue.

8:05-9:35 Reading Block (90 minutes) 9:35-10:20 Language Arts 10:20-11: Workshops 11:30-11:45 Math 11:45-12:15 Lunch   12:25-1:13 Math 1:20-2:05 Conference Time/Specials 2:05-3:00 Science/Social Studies 3:00 Dismissal

4 Rules and Conduct Folder
Listen carefully…raise hand to speak Follow directions…finish all work Work Quietly…let others do their work Respect others…be kind Consequences: Positive: verbal praise, positive notes, student helpers and special treats Negative: notes in conduct folder, lose of privileges, and principal’s office Points taken from conduct grade Conduct Folder: Sent home every day Needs to be initialed by parent weekly

Letters and sounds- vowels and consonants Blends, chunks, beginning and ending sounds, rhyming Story elements and relationships Assessments TPRI: need to read story 5/6 and answer questions at end of year DRA: need to read level 16 at end of year Texas Treasures Reading Tests Fluency Checkpoints: need to be reading 60 wpm end of year

11 Math Students will be able to: Write 0-120 in order
Make and extend patterns Skip counting: 2s, 5s, and 10s Place value Odd/even Graphing: read and create Tally marks Number sets Add and subtract numbers to 20 Solve story problems Name shapes Greater than and less than Number combinations and Turnaround facts

12 Science/Social Studies
In these subjects, first graders learn a wide range of broad concepts that we expect them to demonstrate in other areas. Behavior agenda used in character development for social studies. Science Fair participation important, even for first graders, during the spring

13 Health /Art Health: Art:
Nutrition Hygiene Safety Art: Incorporated in all subjects and areas Improve fine motor skills Neatness…real world application Students expected to model throughout school year.

14 The new STAAR test will be significantly more rigorous than TAKS.

16 Grades 2 grades a week in Reading, Math, Science and Social Studies
3 grades a week in Language Arts 3 grades a 6 weeks for Art/ Health Graded Papers Go home with report cards and progress reports Report Cards Every 6 weeks Need to be signed and returned Progress Reports Every 3rd week Includes graded papers

17 Parent Conferences October 11th and January 16th are early release
Anytime during the year you may call and schedule a time with your student’s teacher Conference time is 1:13-2:03

18 Special Programs Special program teachers are Mrs. Hasbrook, Mrs. Jaber, Mr. Murillo, Mrs. Guajardo, and Mrs. Lugo Pull outs (Coach Kelly, Mr. Medina, Mr. Ochoa) Dual Language with Sra. Garcia
