2 General Direction of all storms
How did the number of storms vary from year to year? How would you describe the general direction of the paths for each year? Is there a general path the storms took for each year?

3 Putting the Spin on Things
Draw a straight line from the North Pole to the Equator. This will be our reference line As you look down from the North Pole toward the equator, which way is the globe spinning, clockwise or counterclockwise?  As you look up from the South Pole toward the equator, which way is the globe spinning, clockwise or counterclockwise?  What happened when you tried to draw a straight line from the North Pole to the equator?  What happened when you tried to draw a straight line from the South Pole to the equator?  Predict what would happen if you again drew lines in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres but with the earth rotating in the opposite direction.

4 Coriolis Effect What is it?
How does it affect large scale systems on Earth? How is it related to hurricanes? Which direction are paths deflected in the northern hemisphere? Which direction are paths deflected in the southern hemisphere?

6 Where do most of the hurricanes originate (start to form) in the Atlantic basin?

8 Hurricane Structure Nasa Visualization

9 Tracking Storms How are hurricanes tracked?
What months did most of the hurricanes occur? Where are the storms when they had their strongest winds? What happens to wind speeds and intensity of each storm as they move over land?
