When we established the RIJUE, there may have been doubts about including both the UK and Europe in the title, as the UK was firmly part of Europe.

The lecture will be focused on the tendency of higher education policy in the UK and how UUK and UK’s universities deal with it, including her perspective on the “Brexit.” We welcome your participation! After that, she was appointed Chief Executive of the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC), one of the institutions constituting the Research Councils UK (RCUK), and became the first woman to serve as the position at RCUK. She is currently the fifth Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kent. She was also awarded a Commander of the British Empire (CBE) in 2001 and a Dame of the British Empire (DBE) in 2010 for her life-long work in the field of Bioscience. It will be conducted in English, with support from interpreters. The first half of the workshop will include a mini-lecture about academic writing techniques to encourage more creative and productive approaches to writing about research. This will include students doing some short writing activities focused around their current or planned research interests.
