North Basin RI/FS Current Activities:
Drilling kickoff meeting held yesterday – BC2 Environmental Drilling to be performed under two contracts: Initial locations from EPA Administrative Settlement Agreement (ASA) 13 wells at 8 sites Drilling to begin by end of month with 100 day duration Additional wells subsequently requested by EPA & RWQCB 10 wells at 6 locations Expect to drill these wells immediately following those already approved Will seek Board approval for additional wells in October

South Basin Wells 21 wells in 6 clusters completed 45 to 130 feet deep
Preliminary results consistent with site conceptual model. RI report by the end of the year FS to follow RI. It should be complete by the end of 2018

SB Community Survey in Circulation
Sent 2,700 questioners last week Includes a fact sheet Gauges stakeholder level of interest: Desire to be on mailing list Desire to attend community meetings Willingness to participate in South Basin Community Group

Community Involvement in the South Basin
Two groups will form: Technical Advisory Committee (TAC): Regulatory Agency Representatives including SWRCB, DTSC, & RWQCB Stakeholder Advisory Group (SAG): Community leaders (Director Sarmiento has offered suggestions) PRPs (Interest letters received as part of the Prop-1 process) Residents Business owners Media Environmental Special interest

Appellate Court Verdicts
North Basin: Reversed lower court ruling regarding the ability of the District to recover investigation costs and future remediation costs under both the District Act and the HSAA Remanded the case back to lower court for Northrop Let stand the causation rulings for the other defendants South Basin: Also reversed lower court ruling regarding the ability of the District to recover investigation costs and future remediation costs under both the District Act and the HSAA Reversed all trial court summary judgments that had been granted to 22 defendants

Prop #1 Funding of NB & SB Work
Three Grants Pending: NB Remedial Investigation NB EW-1 Construction SB Remedial Investigation Meetings with SWRCB Prop #1 Staff planned for August 18th and September 13th Pending issues include removal of planning grant cap and contractual terms
