2. OUR FLAG
In the Republican Constitution of 1947, article. 12, we read: " the flag of the Italian Republic is the tricoloured flag: " three green, white and red vertical stripes of the same dimension".

3. The colours of the Italian flag are inspired to the colours of the French flag.
The French flag was introduced during the French revolution in 1789.

4. The Italian tricolore was created in 1797 in Emilia.
The Italian flag has three colours: green white and red.

5. The romantic meaning: Another meaning: green like our plains
white like the snow on the Alps
red like the blood shed in war for our homeland
Another meaning:
green for faith
red for charity
white for hope

6. FRATELLI D’ITALIA Brothers from Italy
The national anthem was written in the autumn of 1847 in Genua by Goffredo Mameli and put into music shortly afterwards in Turin by a musician from Genua, Michele Novaro. The "Song of the Italians" (as it was originally called) was written on the eve of the war against Austria. Its simple verses made it a favourite song for the unification of the country. Giuseppe Verdi, in his 1862 "National Anthems", chose the "Song of the Italians" - and not the Royal March - to symbolise our homeland, placing it on the same level as "God Save the Queen" and the "Marseillaise". It was, therefore, almost a natural consequence when, on 12 October 1946, Mameli's song became the national anthem of the Italian Republic.
