Senior Culminating Project Overview
IMPORTANT – All components of the culminating project must be passed to participate in graduation! There are two components: Senior Portfolio completed in Naviance, due May 2nd Senior Presentation (tentatively scheduled May 10th. AP/Running Start students may schedule early presentations on March 28th, 29th, and 30th. See Ms. Bell in the annex office.)

Senior Portfolio All components are to be completed in Naviance.
Upload documents to the “My Journal” section. your advisory teacher when you have a component of the portfolio ready to be assessed.

Senior Portfolio Components include:
9th Grade: 4 hours community service 10th Grade: 4 hours community service, cover letter, and resume 11th Grade: Full junior project including community service, job shadow and research paper 12th Grade: 4 hours community service, letter of recommendation, High School and Beyond plan ALL YEARS: Include information on awards, recognition, accomplishments

Senior Presentation Purpose: To demonstrate your effective communication skills by preparing a presentation and speaking to an audience.

Senior Presentation Prompt: How have your experiences during the last four years empowered you to become a knowledgeable and responsible citizen in a diverse community?

Presentation Rubric Follow the rubric! Must get a 3 or 4 in every category.

Presentation Overview
Presentations must last between 10 – 12 minutes and include time for the audience and judges to ask questions. A visual aid is required (PowerPoint is suggested). Include academic and career components.

Presentation Overview
Include an opening that will get the audiences attention. Include information about all four years of your high school career emphasizing teachers who influenced you and how you were influenced, and successes and struggles you occurred during that year. Include a slide about your plans for the future. Wraps things up with a closing and then ask if there are any questions.

Rules about Themes You do not have to use/follow a theme.
If you have a theme, follow it throughout the entire presentation Connect your theme with each year of school and explain how it relates Example: High School is like a football game. First quarter is freshman year, second quarter is sophomore year, etc.

When mentioning Teachers
Check the spelling of their names on your slides. Mention which class or activity you had with them. Mention the life skill or learning that you took away from them.

When including pictures
The picture should not be the focus. - Your story or learning is. All slides do not need pictures. Make sure your pictures are school appropriate.

What was your biggest adjustment coming from middle school? How did this impact you and your future now that you have had time to look back at it? Pick two teachers. -Discuss what the teacher did for you, what they taught you, and how it impacts your future.

Sophomore Year What were the challenges? What are you used to now? (Why was it easier or still difficult?) How did this impact you and your future now that you have had time to look back at it? Pick two teachers. -Discuss what the teacher did for you, what they taught you, and how it impacts your future.

Junior Year What were the challenges? What are you used to now? (Why was it easier or still difficult?) How did this impact you and your future now that you have had time to look back at it? Junior project – What did you do? Job shadow and community service and/or college visit- what did you learn (about yourself)? Pick two teachers. Discuss what the teacher did for you, what they taught you, and how it impacts your future.
