O&M in Solar PV EQ Conference Mumbai 22nd Feb 2017 Anjan Ghosh – Ujaas Energy
2
The Solar Industry The industry is crossing the seed phase and entering the growth phase: grid parity is the inflection point. India’s solar market over next decade : Equipment: $6-7 bn (Rs cr) Revenue: $ 4 bn (Rs cr) The growth will impinge upon : >Frugal cost base >Low cost, efficient financing >Regulation and Policy refinement >Project execution capability >Plant life-cycle management Players going through the growing pains in seed phase, their experience will yield strong dividends in growth phase. Utilities will acquire major share; Independents will serve smaller / private off takers in a fragmented market
3
Operation & Maintenance to Asset Management
More than 100 GW Plants already globally to sustain and improve life cycle performance O&M – Activities to ensure plant performs as planned, optimize production , reduce risks, protect values and comply with rules and regulations. A.M – Financial, commercial and administrative activities to ensure plant revenue stream and returns.
4
O & M Requirements Each PV plant has individual characteristics and need: >Size, location, components, connectivity, contract, PPA etc >Roof top, ground mounted, multi MW etc >Specific regulations and environments Plan for life cycle performance is the O&M strategy for yrs effective asset management. Plants will need optimal monitoring, inspection, warranties, insurance & the O&M plan should detail the maintenance philosophy: >Preventive Maintenance >Corrective Maintenance >Predictive Maintenance
5
O&M- Key Success factors
Contractual: >KWHR >Uptime >Grid Support >Reporting Internal: >Budget &Revenue >Green Power >Operational issues-labour upkeep >Turnaround for performance fall KPIs: >Performance ratio- PR >Plant Availability >Generation: actual vs planned >Energy losses >Unscheduled outages
6
O&M Services Monitoring Achieving Maximum Performance
Preventive & Predictive Maintenance Anomaly Alters Energy Production Audit Achieving Maximum Performance
7
O&M Services IT based O&M – Field Services • Solar Resource Assessment
• Real time Active Performance monitoring • Condition based monitoring • Advance Analytics • Reporting • Forecasting

O&M Services
10
SERVICES & ACTIVITIES Regular execution & stick to Preventive maintenance schedule of all equipments. Immediate restoration of breakdown to attain least MTTR (Mean Time To Restore). Adherence to quality work & safety. Regular module cleaning to increase the efficiency & performance. Seasonal tilting of modules to yield highest generation. Regular grass cutting inside the plant.
11
ADVANTAGES Thermograph test & hot spot inspection to reduce Breakdown.
Close surveillance of plant security through CCTV’s camera at site level & HO, Indore.
12
ADVANTAGES Use of solar module cleaning machine for achieving better efficiency which effectively increase the generation
13
ADVANTAGES Close Monitoring of Plant through SCADA inside MCR(Main Control Room) & also at HO(Head Office), Indore. Timely release of DGR (Daily Generation report) & analysis by SCADA & monitoring team at HO.
14
CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT
CRM (Customer Relationship Management) is the single window point of contact which is open to the customers for all issues. CRM team also ensures to close the issues & provide a complete transparency in tracking them. Related MIS reports are released to management in regular basis.
