Tips and Strategies Read “Prepare for the Test”
Take the full-length practice PSAT Expect easy questions at the beginning of each set of sentence completion and math questions. Earn as many points as you can on easy questions. Don’t have to answer every question. Work steadily. Know when to guess. Mark answer sheet correctly. Understand the student produced responses.
38
About Guessing Educated guessing means guessing an answer whenever you are able to eliminate one or more of the choices as definitely wrong. Educated guessing may help you. Random guessing probably won't help you because of the way the test is scored. Random guessing means that you have no idea which answer choice is correct. Don't waste time on that kind of question. Move on to the next one.
39
What are colleges looking for?
Challenging Schedule Good grades High standardized test scores: ACT or SAT Involved in Extra-Curricular Activities and Volunteering Excellent application essay-if required Exceptional letters of recommendation
40
Recommendations from teachers, counselors, pastors, and other adults are very important.
