Henry VIII + Catherine of Aragon = 28 years of marriage and 1 daughter named Mary. Catherine was to old to have any more children Henry needed a son to have an heir to the throne. He begins having an affair with Anne Boleyn.

5 Causes of the English Reformation
Henry VIII appeals to Pope Clement VII to have his marriage annulled. He claimed that his marriage was never legitimate with Catherine. Pope denies the annulment due to Catherine being the Aunt of Charles V, the King of the Holy Roman Empire. Henry growing upset breaks off from the Catholic church and creates the Church of England (Anglican Church)

Difference between Catholicism and the Anglican church – The king is the head of the church rather than the pope. He will marry 6 times and have 3 legitimate children Daughter Mary from Catherine of Aragon Daughter Elizabeth from Anne Boleyn Son Edward from Jane Seymour

Married her based on a picture he saw of her. The first time he met her he was so offended by her looks he said ; "she was no better than a Flanders mare." (horse) He quietly divorced her and they remained friends.

13 Catherine Parr (survived)
July 1543 married Henry VIII Henry VIII died January 29, 1547
