Henry needed a son to have an heir to the throne.
He begins having an affair with Anne Boleyn.

Henry VIII appeals to Pope Clement VII to have his marriage annulled.
He claimed that his marriage was never legitimate with Catherine.
Pope denies the annulment due to Catherine being the Aunt of Charles V, the King of the Holy Roman Empire.
Henry growing upset breaks off from the Catholic church and creates the Church of England (Anglican Church)
