1 October kicks off the 2017 Fall Product Program
October kicks off the 2017 Fall Product Program! This is the first time this year our troop has the opportunity to earn money to fund our activities for the year. 2017 Fall Product Program!

4 “Simone” The Super Cat! This year’s theme is Unleash the Hero Inside! And the mascot is Simone the Super Cat! You’ll see Simone throughout our materials and the recognitions the girls earn.

5 5 Skills Goal Setting Decision Making Business Ethics Money Management
People Skills We call this a program instead of a sale, because it’s important that girls have a chance to learn 5 key skills while they participate. Goal Setting: You should set a goal with her, and we will set a goal as a group that we will try to reach by the end of the program. Decision Making: Girls should have input on how they want to sell, and as a group we will decide how to use our proceeds at the end. Business Ethics: This is an order-taking sale, which means customers give you their money and trust you’ll be back with their product. Business Ethics can also be demonstrated by making sure we don’t start selling early and stop at the right time. Money Management: (depending on the age of each girl) girls should be given the chance to handle money in a responsible way. Counting back change, counting the total collected, and making sure it matches their Order Cards. And finally, People Skills: approaching customers, working on their sales pitch, and being clear about their goals and what we plan to do with the money we earn are all part of that skill.

6 This is the Family Guide
This is the Family Guide! Each of you will get one today, and it has all the details for helping you with the program. We will go through it together and you can reference it throughout the program.

7 On the front page of the guide you will see that the program starts October 1 and ends on October 20. Front Page of The Guide

8 In addition to the table of contents…
In addition to the table of contents…. On Page two you will find that we are participating in a pilot this year! QSP is testing a Magazine Order Card instead of the triplicate forms. We are one of two councils across the country selected for this pilot. It will look just like the Nut Order Cards, but include the 50 top selling magazines and lines for customers to enter their information and selections. You’ll find these Order Cards, shown on the screen, in the girl envelope. Page 2 of The Guide

9 Page 3 includes definitions of words we use during the Fall Product Program. We will cover these today as we go through the training. The one I wanted to point out now, is Troop Product Manager - you will see that term throughout the training today and that is just referencing me! Page 3 of the Guide

10 Page 4 of the Guide Page 4 shows us some of the most important dates -
Order-Taking begins October 1- as we’ve already mentioned. In-Person and Online orders end on October 20. October 2 2- Everyone should have their Order Cards turned into me with all of the money collected. I won’t enter your order until I have the money to go with it. I know this is a tight window, but to get the product back to customers by Thanksgiving we have to stay within tight deadlines. November The nut and candy items that you need for the orders taken in person will be delivered to me and I’ll let you know when you can pick them up. Then you should deliver them back to your customers by November 22. I should get your recognitions by early December right after the holiday and have them to you that month! Page 4 of the Guide

11 Just below important dates, on page 4 - we have what you’ll need to do before your Girl Scout can sell. She needs to be registered for this year, and I’ll need a signed Permission Form. I have those for you tonight, you can sign them before you leave and they will also count for the Cookie Program too. Coming tonight for this training counts for number 3! If you have a debt outstanding with the council, they should’ve notified you by now. And set a good example for your Girl Scout by following the dates, deadlines and rules outlined in this training and this guide! Page 4 of the Guide

12 2. Give the Ok! I wanted to take a minute to look at the Permission Form together. These let me know it’s ok for your Girl Scout to sell with the troop, but also you’re agreeing to provide the money for the orders she takes. Please take a moment to read through this form tonight, fill it out and turn it in to me at the end.

13 Finally on the bottom of Page 4, we’ll go over the materials I’ve passed out tonight. These are the tools you have to participate with your Girl Scout. We’re going through the Family Guide right now. You also have a Money Envelope so you can collect all of your customer payments in and turn into me. Then the Girl Envelope, that has your two Order Cards, Business Cards and a Flier that walks you through how to set up her online store account. Page 4 of the Guide

16 nut/candy items on Nut Order Card & 50 popular magazine titles on the Magazine Order Card. Money collected at time of order. Nut & chocolates delivered before Thanksgiving! The most common way girls participate is through in-person order-taking, with delivery later. The Order Cards in your envelope have options for customers to choose from and you collect the money when you take their order. Nuts and chocolates are delivered to you mid-November for you to get to the customers in time for Thanksgiving. Magazines will take longer. Up to 4 months, so customers should not plan to get those subscriptions started before Christmas. However, if they order magazines online they will. Page 5 in the Guide

19 New! Featured on the Nut Order Card
A couple new things that are on the Nut Order Card this year are… Dill Pickle Peanuts. They taste like salt and vinegar chips with a dill flavor as well. Featured on the Nut Order Card

20 Collectibles! Featured on the Nut Order Card
The Girl Scout Tin this year looks like this, with the Mint Treasures inside. They actually found a 1920’s tin and replicated it! Featured on the Nut Order Card

Customers who don’t want to purchase a product can still make a donation to your Girl Scout. These donations go to support Project Thank You, which sends nuts/chocolates or magazines to soldiers both deployed and at home - also this year donations will go to support police officers and firefighters. All of our local hometown heroes! To take a donation, simply enter the quantity ordered in the Project Thank You columns on the Nut Order Card and collect money. Customers do not receive any physical product. Page 5 in the Guide & on Nut Order Card

23 Page 6 in the Guide & on the Nut Order Card
Now we’ll cover what we earn from the Fall Product Program. Our troop will keep 20% of all magazine sales for our troop proceeds. This includes the tumblers, veggies, etc. For nut and chocolate items we get 15% of our total sales in troop proceeds. This money stays right in our troop bank account and should be available to use when the program is over. Page 6 in the Guide & on the Nut Order Card

24 Credits girls earn that help them pay for their Girl Scout experience. Can be used for Membership, Programs, Camp, and in the Shop! Chosen instead of recognitions at indicated levels. Girls have until September th to use their credits.* While the troop earns proceeds we can spend together, each girl has the option to get Munch Money. These are credits that get loaded on to an account for your Girl scout to spend on Girl Scout things- like her membership for next year, events she wants to attend, camps or in the Girl Scout store. She has the option to choose Munch Money instead of other items, and you can find those choices on the back of her Order Card. Page 6 in the Guide & on the Recognition Panel of the Nut Order Card

25 On September 15, If the girl is registered for the following Girl Scout year: Girls K-4 grade, Munch Money rolls to the Troop. (One more year to use for the group) Girls 5 grade & up, Munch Money gets banked. (Never expires!*) (PRESENTER NOTE: Provide the relevant information based on the age of the girls in your troop) There are ways for us to keep those credits too even after September 15, 2018: K-4: If you don’t use all your credits by next fall, that’s ok. Those credits will go to the troop so that I can use them for patches, books and even to take girls to an event. Girls who are in 5th grade and up and are re-registered for next year will actually get to keep their credits. We call it banking them. They can save up for a trip or a camp they might want to go to later as they get older.

26 PATCHES! Back of the Nut Order Card
Girls will earn patches for different ways that they sell and different levels they reach - each patch and how they earn it is on the Nut Order Card. Back of the Nut Order Card

27 … The back of the Nut Order Card
To see what your Girl Scout can earn individually for her sales, look on the back of the Nut Order Card that is in your packet. They have a lot of options, even at each level. You’ll want to sit down with her and circle the things she wants, so that when I put in your order at the end of the program I can make the right choices for her. I mentioned Munch Money - you can see here anytime there is a green dollar picture, that means she can choose Munch Money instead of the item at that level. Each time she chooses Munch Money it adds up. The back of the Nut Order Card

28 Customized T-Shirt! Direct to Girl Rewards Back of the Nut Order Card
One of the new things they will be doing this year for recognitions is a customizable t-shirt that will get shipped directly to you if you reach the $850 level in combined sales OR $325 in just online sales (you won’t get two, only one for the highest level you reach). Once I submit the order at the end of the program you will get a congratulations , each girl can pick what name she wants on it, and her size. Then it gets shipped directly to you! The rest of the recognitions will come from me in early December. Back of the Nut Order Card

29 Customized Patch! $150 in online sales = One Custom Patch!
Direct to Girl Rewards $150 in online sales = One Custom Patch! Same as the t-shirt - for online sales of $150, each girl will get an to customize her own Simone the Super Cat and then have it turned into a patch and mailed to her! Nut Order Card

30 WRAPPING UP THE PROGRAM…
By October 22 you should turn in all of your Magazine Order Cards, Nut Order Cards and money. Check for legibility and completed information so that the Magazine Order Cards can be accurately processed. I’ll give your Nut Order Card back, and turn in the Magazine Order Card to QSP to fill the orders. At the end of the program, I’ll need you to give me both Order Cards and all the money you have collected so I can submit the orders online and turn in the magazine orders to be fulfilled. Be sure when you get orders you are checking for legible writing and complete address details- especially on the Magazine Order Card because that’s how they will be able to send the subscriptions. If the address can’t be read or isn’t there, the order will be delayed. I will give you back the Nut Order Card so you can deliver those orders once I have them entered into the system. Page 7 in the Guide

31 Girl delivery begins as soon as you have your product.
November 10-14 ALWAYS count twice, and be 100% sure you are getting the right amount of product during pick up. Girl delivery begins as soon as you have your product. I will receive our nut and chocolate order between November 10-14, I’ll let you know as soon as I can when you can pick it up to deliver to your customers. When you come to pick up, I will have you count with me and sign a receipt for the product you pick up from me, so we are both sure you are getting the right amount. Page 7 in the Guide
