SWAP Status STM tests are completed Tests with BB electronics are completed All FM components are delivered to CSL MCPM FM not ready SWAP FM is currently under assembly, alignment & verifications SCSL Meeting – ISSI, Nov 2006

3 SCSL Meeting – ISSI, 29-30 Nov 2006
SWAP Status FM Structure Invar optical bench + black coating, “isostatic” mounts SCSL Meeting – ISSI, Nov 2006

4 SCSL Meeting – ISSI, 29-30 Nov 2006
SWAP Status FM Structure Invar baffles & housing – internal parts are black (to visible light) SCSL Meeting – ISSI, Nov 2006

5 SCSL Meeting – ISSI, 29-30 Nov 2006
SWAP FM Integration Optics Flight mirrors (FM1 + SM2) have been mounted on the SWAP optical bench Alignment (on-axis) with SFE < l/30 rms (633 nm) on a dummy camera (representative of the flight camera) Offset optical axis ./. mechanical axis is currently under verification  need to assess coalignment with LYRA Alignment (interferometry) is currently under verification SCSL Meeting – ISSI, Nov 2006

6 SCSL Meeting – ISSI, 29-30 Nov 2006
SWAP FM Integration dummy camera used to reflect back the focussing beam from the telescope and the interferometer Optical alignment SCSL Meeting – ISSI, Nov 2006

7 SCSL Meeting – ISSI, 29-30 Nov 2006
SWAP FM Integration Interferometer Alignment tool for M2 SWAP FM optical bench Dummy camera M1 Optical alignment SCSL Meeting – ISSI, Nov 2006

8 SCSL Meeting – ISSI, 29-30 Nov 2006
SWAP FM Integration Optical alignment SCSL Meeting – ISSI, Nov 2006

9 SCSL Meeting – ISSI, 29-30 Nov 2006
SWAP FM Integration Optical alignment SCSL Meeting – ISSI, Nov 2006

10 SCSL Meeting – ISSI, 29-30 Nov 2006
SWAP FM Status Cover mechanism White paint of cover mechanism had to be reprocessed in sept 06 (peeling after TV, process was changed wrt prelim. samples). FM cover mech. was TV cycled with funct. testing. FM cover mech. was vibrated on the FM structure, with SM mirrors + filters, combined tests for mech. acceptance + filter selection. Final coating (white paint) is now OK. FM cover mech is ready for integration. SCSL Meeting – ISSI, Nov 2006

11 SCSL Meeting – ISSI, 29-30 Nov 2006
SWAP FM Status Filters – Current status Air flow study, design of labyrinths & venting outlets  Delta pressure test on real filters  Thermal balance test with Sun simulator (ESTEC)  Theoretical studies (optical artifacts) of grid supports  Vibration tests with STM  Tests with  reinforced grid filters enlarged labyrinths addition of “acoustic baffles” negotiated “notched” vibration spec New tests with polyimide front filter + reinf. grid focal filter  Negotiate safety conditions for S/C AIV to be done SCSL Meeting – ISSI, Nov 2006

12 SCSL Meeting – ISSI, 29-30 Nov 2006
SWAP FM Status Filters – Selected baseline Front filter = polyimid + Al Focal filter = reinforced grid + Al No “flare” diffraction Only grid shadow on the focal plane but with low modulation (filter is not very close to sensor) SCSL Meeting – ISSI, Nov 2006

13 SCSL Meeting – ISSI, 29-30 Nov 2006
SWAP FM Status Proximity Electronics (PE) FM PE (with FM sensor) was received and tested in last June-July. Latch up detection at startup due to a bad resistor Correction implemented at CSL SCSL Meeting – ISSI, Nov 2006

14 SCSL Meeting – ISSI, 29-30 Nov 2006
SWAP FM Status Proximity Electronics (PE) FM PE integrated in focal plane assembly (FPA) in July. FPA = PE with CMOS sensor + housing + cooling/heating system + diodes FM FPA delivered to CSL in Aug 06 SCSL Meeting – ISSI, Nov 2006

15 SCSL Meeting – ISSI, 29-30 Nov 2006
SWAP FM Status Proximity Electronics (PE) Tests of the PE in FPA outlined a problem in the SRAM memory Investigations showed that the board had an intenal short with ground through a mounting hole 1 FPGA + 1 SRAM components had to be replaced + new external wiring to replace the erroneous track First tests indicate that the repaired hardware works SCSL Meeting – ISSI, Nov 2006

16 SCSL Meeting – ISSI, 29-30 Nov 2006
SWAP FM Status Proximity Electronics (PE) Final agreement with ESA to use FM repaired board is pending on a diagnostic on the memory failure (which is not clearly explained now, but also used in several other ESA programs). Analysis is currently performed by the component manufacturer. If needed, the Spare FM PE can still be assembled. But major impact on schedule. SCSL Meeting – ISSI, Nov 2006

17 SCSL Meeting – ISSI, 29-30 Nov 2006
SWAP FM Status Thermal Blanket (MLI) Fit check was performed at CSL in Aug 2006 MLI is used to keep SWAP isolated from platform thermal environment SCSL Meeting – ISSI, Nov 2006

18 SCSL Meeting – ISSI, 29-30 Nov 2006
MCPM Status MCPM provides on-board data processing, storage and packetization cPCI interface with cPCI bus to S/C ADPMS MCPM BB is currently used for tests MCPM FM - cPCI connectors procurement was problematic (type imposed by S/C !) Press-fit cPCI connectors assembled first (unusual process) 2 boards currently under assembly at CRISA SCSL Meeting – ISSI, Nov 2006

19 SCSL Meeting – ISSI, 29-30 Nov 2006
