1
Calculating energy gained from an AA battery
Norika.T Koki.M Tsuyoshi.M
2
Introduction
3
The purpose of this experiment
calculate total amount of energy
4
Materials Designated container, 0.5Ωresistor, 0.7Ωresistor,
New ready alkaline AA battery, Rubber stopper that a hole opened, Thermometer, Copper wire with clip .
5
1/R=1/R1+1/R2 (R=Combined resistance)
6
Procedure of experience 1
Record temperature every 2.5 minutes Use two official and seek occurred Heat capacity (J / K) = mass (g) × specific heat (J / g · K) Amount of heat (J) = heat capacity (J / K) ×rising of the temperatures(K)
7
Results of experience 1
8
We use the same new AA-batteries, but the difference was too big…
9
Procedure of experience 2
Some as experiment 1 We set the starting temperature to be the same
10
Result
11
Consideration In experimentⅡ, 0.5(Ω) resistor reached the final voltage before the other and stopped rising in temperatures. We think we can make total amount of heat energy accurate by adding that amount of heat energy.
