2 Safe Haven Enterprise visa (SHEV)
A Safe Haven Enterprise visa (SHEV) is a temporary protection visa that is valid for five years. It encourages people to work and study in regional Australia. This visa will allow you to access: Medicare Job matching services Social security benefits Adult visa holders will have access to the Adult Migrant English Programme and children are able to go to school.

3 SHEV Pathways You will meet the SHEV pathway requirements if, for at least three and a half years (42 months) while on a SHEV, you have been: employed in regional Australia and not received certain social security benefits (Special Benefit payments), or enrolled and physically attending full-time study in regional Australia, or a combination of the above.

4 SHEV Pathways You can meet the SHEV pathway requirements individually and apply separately for a visa, or You can meet the SHEV pathway requirements and include your family as dependant applicants in the visa application, or You have a member of your family unit who has met the pathway requirements and include them in the visa application as a dependant applicant. Consider getting advice from a migration lawyer about meeting Pathways. E.G Playfair Migration Services , Refugee Advice and Casework Services (RACS) , Private Lawyers.

5 Studying in a SHEV area Education
Adult Migrant English Program or AMEP 510 hours fulltime – Physically attending Smart and Skilled at Tafe or other recognised training institution-- Speak to your jobactive provider to ask about qualifications, apprenticeships and traineeships Eligibility for Special benefits while studying is determined by the Department of Human Services Obtain a record of study from your education provider and keep certified copies for future documentation requirements for Pathways or second SHEV . Complete form 1465 to record your study details

6 Working in a SHEV area Employment
Register with a jobactive provider as soon as possible and develop a job plan, which could include study options. To meet the SHEV pathway requirements, work must be: in a regional area that is included in the SHEV arrangements full time, part time, temporary, casual or seasonal, contract. Work does not have to be continuous. If you have breaks between periods of work (such as doing seasonal work), each calendar month that you work will count towards the SHEV pathway requirements. It is your responsibility as a SHEV holder to find employment in a 'regional area'. This could be through jobactive, private employer, ABN or self employment. To meet the SHEV requirement, any work a SHEV holder wants to have counted toward meeting Pathways must have been undertaken without receiving Special Benefits Translated jobactive factsheets

13 Arrival and support in a SHEV area
REMINDER Change your address with DHS, DIBP, Medicare, Bank & Utility companies. DHS – Contact your local DHS office DIBP - Complete form 929 change of address details and post to DIBP Medicare – Contact your local Medicare office Do not forget to record your Employment and study record: Form Keep all original documents together and maintain copies – i.e TFN, payslips, Visa letters, Vevo, Immicard, USI number, CRN, drivers license, qualification/ certificates of study, references, resume, photo ID, DSS login details etc

Local bus and train services operate in many regional cities and towns.
