3 English proficiency (L2) testing
Language other than English on HLS are referred to the AC CELDT tested at the AC (HLS Q1-3 ≠ E) Parent goes to the FRC (next door) for an orientation Child given a First 5 California book, and back-to-school gift pack Tests are scored, results/placement are explained to parents

5 Primary Language (L1) Testing
RUSD continues the CDE “best practice” recommendation for L1 testing. Values a child’s first language/culture Assists understanding of L2 assistance Supports 6 DLI programs Supports placement in middle school AP Spanish courses

6 CALPADS SELA Support by AC
All SELA data entry in Aeries first All SELA records quality assured Work with other districts for record corrections Monitor U.S. school enter date, student national origin date AC provides 1:1 support to sites

Maintain contact with site administrators, enrollment personnel Closely monitor 30-day test compliance Training of site personnel Frequent data checks in Aeries & CALPADS

9 Replaces CELDT in Spring 2018
RUSD is a Field Test district AC staff are ELPAC-FT examiners FT experience is assisting staff development, and future student outcomes For reclassification will use CELDT as needed

10 Impact of ELPAC – Lessons Learned
Understanding the ELPAC supports the implementation of integrated ELD Thorough training of examiners, teachers is important Information to parents/students about ELPAC and details can empower student success

11 Impact of ELPAC - Reclassification
If an EL “Level 3” student meets all other district reclassification criteria except CELDT, the CELDT may be re-administered in If an EL student who is already proficient on CELDT meets the other district criteria, that student may be reclassified.
