1 Understanding Growth and ACT Aspire Reports

2 ACT Aspire Growth Reports
Districts and schools that participated in ACT Aspire Assessments (Reading, Math, English, Science and Writing) with an N count of 5+ in consecutive years (2015 and 2016) will receive Growth Summary Statistics and Student Growth Percentile reports and a data file the week of September 26, 2016, via Box.com.

3 Growth Vocabulary Mean Gain Score is the simple average of gain scores(difference between scores from consecutive years/2016 and 2015) for a group of students. Target Gain is the mean gain score for all students in the nation who have participated in ACT Aspire for consecutive years. Gain Interpretation indicates if the mean gain score for students is within sampling error(via a 90% confidence interval) of the target or significantly above or below the target.

4 Sample Growth Summary Statistics by Subject Area and Grade Level

5 Sample Growth Summary Statistics by Subject Area and Grade Level Observations
Growth is reported in one-year (Grades 3-8) or two-year (Grade 8 to 10) intervals. Most of the students in the national growth samples for Grades 3-8 are from Alabama. For Grade 8-10, the national growth sample only includes students from Alabama who tested in 2014 as 8th graders and 2016 as 10th graders. If the difference between the mean gain score and the national average is greater than 0, the mean gain score for your students was greater than the national average. If the difference between the mean gain score and the national average is less than 0, the mean gain score for your students was less than the national average.

6 Growth Vocabulary Student Growth Percentile (SGP)- The Student Growth Percentile measures the percentile rank of a student’s score in year 2, among all students with the same score from year 1. The SGP ranges from 1 to 100, with 50 as the average. Low Growth- The SGP is less than 25%. Average Growth- The SGP is 25%-75%. High Growth- The SGP is 76% or higher.

7 Sample Student Growth Percentile (SGP) Report

8 Sample Student Growth Percentile (SGP) Report Observations
SGPs are dependent on the group used to develop the growth norms. ALL students who tested nationally in consecutive years through spring are included in the national growth samples used to develop the growth norms for Grades 3-8. Most of the national growth sample for Grades 3-8 is comprised of students from Alabama. For Grade 8 to 10, the growth sample only includes students from Alabama who tested in 2014 as 8th graders and 2016 as 10th graders.

Select a teacher from this list, and a message will appear that the teacher has been successfully associated to that student. A student may have up to 10 teachers associated with him or her.
