When to incorporate games into your Scouting program.
- At the arrival of the Scout meeting - As a Den Activity - Pack Meetings - As a belt loop/pin requirement - To complete a Webelos badge requirement - Time filler

Games play an important role in Cub Scouts
- Scouts learn lessons without Teachers - Games can be body builders by developing skills and coordination. - Mind stretchers by developing quick thinking, mental alertness, and strategy. - Friend makers - Building blocks - Most of all….Games are fun and exciting!

Learning Through Games
- The Scout learns new skills - Helps develop their physical, mental, and social skills. - Develops new interests - Learns to follow rules - Learns fairness - Learns to wait his turn - Learns to be respectful of others

Why Games? - Cubs want to have FUN! - Prizes are not required
- A game does not need to be completed - You can restart the game

Playing the Game - Know the game you want to play.
- Be prepared to teach the game to Scouts and adults that may have not played it before. - Inside or outside – is there enough space to play the game? - Have the required equipment. - Make sure to go over the rules. - Let the Cubs have fun but be sure you can get their attention and maintain control….use the Cub Scout sign.

Other things to consider when playing games
- Be sure to inspect the area of play for safety. - Be aware of the weather conditions and over exertion as this can result in health issues. - Heat Exhaustion - Dehydration - Hypothermia - Fatigue - KISMIF – Keep it simple, make it fun! - Always follow the ‘Guide to Safe Scouting’ guidelines.

Kickball, Baseball, Capture the Flag - Indoor Games Musical Chairs, dodge ball, spud, bowling - Quiet Games Telephone game, card games, board games - Theme Games Pin the tail on ______; dunking for apples, etc.
