2 IAM Multilingualism is a common phenomenon, and the study of multilingualism provides the basis for understanding all types of language acquisition and learning, maintenance and attrition. IAM will foster the cooperation between researchers of multilingualism disseminate knowledge, methods, theories and models create a forum for the discussion of issues related to multilingualism

3 IAM IAM was founded in 2003: Ulrike Jessner, Britta Hufeisen, Jasone Cenoz 280 members from all around the world International Journal of Multilingualism 4 issues/year Multilingualism and Multiple Language Acquisition (Schneider Verlag Hohengehren)

… is an international network of scholars who share an interest in multilingualism … the members do research in multilingualism from different perspectives: From sociolinguistic, psycholinguistic and other applied linguistic points of view With various theoretical, methodological, and practical frameworks
