Questions about the Readings
When might you use primary or original research articles in your future profession? Name three identifying features of a primary or original research article? Name three important differences between scholarly literature and the Google/free web? Give an example of secondary literature specific to the health sciences.

What is the difference between Open Access and Public Access? Why does it matter where information comes from? Of what value is peer review? Go to PubMed.gov. In the search box at the top, type in protein intake AND diabetes. Click on the link for the article by Bellizzi V. Can you get access to this article? How much will it cost you? Why is information expensive? Should it be?

Typing in a sentence only works if it’s a title!
Check out the search details: the database has searched each term individually and has AND’ed them all resulting in ZILCH.

Click back into the search box at the top and search for pregnancy. Add to search builder. It automatically joins them with an AND but you can choose OR or NOT if it’s appropriate. Then click ‘Search PubMed’.
