Chemistry Subject Specialist Resource Aims This resource has been developed to support learners to develop their Chemistry subject specialist knowledge whilst having a little fun, gaming for learning. The resource can be used to introduce an element of competition between individuals and/or groups which learners appear to enjoy. Level Level 2, Level 3 Method PowerPoint Presentation. This can be used as an Ice Breaker activity to assess prior knowledge. A the start of a lesson provide the Connect to previous sessions learning, providing a fun interactive activity whilst providing checks on learning. This can also be used at the end of a lesson to assess that learning had taken place. INSTRUCTIONS on how to use this resource are in the Teacher/Lecturer notes page (see below) Equipment Laptop/Projector Duration >30 Minutes Instructions on how to use this resource: Ask the Students to get into pairs or groups (or the Teacher/Lecturer puts them into groups or pairs) The Teacher/Lecturer then needs to launch the PowerPoint slide show to Slide 3 The Teacher/Lecturer then needs to ask each group/pairs what subject they would like and what points would they like to compete for: i.e. Combining Atoms 1pt, 2pt, 3pt; Atom Basic, 1pt,2pt, 3pt; The Periodic Table 1pt, 2pt, 3pt The Teacher/Lecturer will click on which one the student has selected, it will then come up with the answer, for the students to get this correct and earn their point they must say what the Question was! A bit like DOUBLE JEOPARDY!!!! When they have guessed the Teacher/Lecturer will then click on the screen. This will then show the question, if the students get this correct they get the points!!! To go back to the Home Screen the Teacher/Lecturer must click on the Home Icon (bottom right of screen) and so on. At the end the Teacher/Lecturer will tally the up scores and reveal THE WINNER
