Between the Atlantic Ocean and the North Sea The British Isles consist of two large islands and a number of smaller islands Great Britain and Ireland Orkney, the Shetlands, Isle of Wight

South and east have softer rolling hills and flat lands The longest river – River Severn, followed by the River Thames Lakes – in the Lake Dstrict (Windermere), in Scotland (Loch Ness) Mild climate – no weather extremes One of Europe’s most important fishing nations National Anthem - “God Save the Queen/King” Currency - the Great Britain Pound

Consists of 6 countries Since 1921 the southern part of the island of Ireland has been a republic Belfast
