Types of Triangles https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLeNaZcy-hE
Scalene: Has no equal sides or angles Equilateral: All three sides and angles are the same Isosceles: Has two equal sides and angles (Sometimes shown with a line through to equal sides) OR/AND Right Triangle: One of the three angles is a right angle. (90°) Obtuse Triangle: One of the three angles is obtuse (more than 90°) Acute Triangle: All three angles are acute (Less than 90°)

7
Naming triangles based on their angles
**Remember all triangles will have two acute angles. So you are always looking at that third angle to decide whether it’s acute, right, or obtuse.

Naming Triangles Example PAT question
11
Triangles (Page ) How to draw a triangle: Step 1: Draw a baseline using one of the measurements given with your ruler. Label it appropriately. (A-B) Step 2: Make a vertex and measure the angle using your protractor. Connect your line Step 3: Repeat steps 1 and 2 when necessary
12
Practice Draw a triangle with a 30° angle and a 105° angle
Draw a triangle with a 60° angle with a 5 cm line segment AB and 6cm line segment BC Construct a triangle that has one angle that measures 75° and one angle that measures 25° …can you label the triangle? What kind is it?

Polygons (Page 214- 223) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UeKN5-ogFTs
Exrtra: Polygons: Are 2- dimensional shapes, with multiple sides and it’s closed.

Polygons (Page ) Regular Polygon: Has all equal sides and angles. Example: A square, a stop sign. Irregular Polygon: All sides and angles are NOT equal. Convex Polygon: All the INTERIOR angles are less than 180° Concave Polygon: Has at least one INTERIOR angle that is greater than 180°

Polygons (Page 214- 223) Congruent means the same or identical!
Congruent shapes: Two shapes that are exactly the same. Congruent shapes don’t always have to appear exactly the same, they may be rotated, flipped, or mirrored. An easy trick is to trace the shape you are looking at and compare to the other shape by placing it over and rotating when necessary. This symbol means the two shapes being compared at congruent.

Perimeter (Page 226-230) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6mopAgqjkVM
The distance around a shape. Think the fence around your house. That’s the perimeter of your yard. To find the perimeter of a polygon you need to add all the sides together.
25
Perimeter (Page ) There is something called formulas in math, there are different formulas for different math concepts. They are important because they help you remember how to solve for the problem. The formula for perimeter is: Perimeter= Side + Side +Side + Side… OR P= S+S+S+S You might also see it: Perimeter = Length + Length + Width +Width OR P= L + L + W +W

Area (Page 231- 234) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xk-PyhjFWw4
Area is the space inside of the perimeter. Formula Area = Length x Width or A = L x W Your answer will always be squared. What does that mean? 2cm X 3cm = 6 cm2 That little two shows the squared **Always remember to write your answer with the measurement used. CM, M, MM, Inch, Feet**

Volume (Page 235-238) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJwecTgce6c
Is the space inside of a 3 dimensional shape. Think about a Kleenex box, it’s all the space inside the box. To find the volume of a rectangle you multiply length x width x height The formula Volume= Length x Width x Height or V= L x W x H Your answers will always be cubed. What does that look like? 3cm X 2cm X 4cm = 24cm3
