Keep a list of vocabulary words and definitions on hand to: Randomly review 4 – 6 words Give a definition and ask for word Give word ask for definition Have students share ideas with a partner Ask for group response Vocab Toss Use words for a current unit of study Use words from a master list for subject. Include words already covered in class as well as words the students will come across later in the year. Use vocabulary from state assessments

Have student reflect by: Discussing with a partner (Partners A & B) Responding on index card or sticky note on the way out the door Describe one thing you’ve learned today? What’s one thing that was new to you? One thing that surprised you? One thing you wonder about? One question you have about today’s lesson? One thing you want to learn more about? 3 – 2 – 1 : 3 new things they learned from the lesson, two areas in which they are still confused, and one way they might apply what they’ve learned to another area.

3 – 2 – 1 3 - List three applications for slope, y-intercept knowledge in the professional world. 2 - Identify two skills that someone must have to determine slope and y-intercept from a set of points on a plane. 1 - If (x1,y1) are the coordinates of a point W in a plane, and (x2,y2) are the coordinates of a different point Y, then the slope of line WY is what? 3 – 2 – 1 : 3 new things they learned from the lesson, two areas in which they are still confused, and one way they might apply what they’ve learned to another area.
