2 What is romanticism? It really hit him hard when his father passed away in 1829 Styles include: Chromatic palette Broadly applied atmospheric washes of paint Shipwrecks, fires, natural catastrophes, natural phenomenon (sunlight, storm, rain, and fog), plus the violent power of the sea. But this started to come to a close wen he didn’t want to sacrifice his vision for popularity So in 1808, he started ti exhibit some of water colors at the Royal Academy Main patron was Thomas Butts Characteristics: Massive size Iconic designs Technique was described as “Fresco”. Form of monotype, which used oil and tempera paints mixed with chalks.
