If you plan on applying for college: Take your SAT/ACT- 4 year college (collegeboard.org) Visit and Apply to the college/university 3-5 colleges) Halloween is a great time to apply by. Pay the fee (if there is one)

Send letters of recommendations (Ask your favorite teachers or counselors) and write essays, if applicable, to the college/university Send your transcripts (tell your counselors) Fill out your financial aid application (January)

FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), which is a federal form used to determine the students eligibility for the following: * Federal programs (Pell Grants, Work-study, and loans) * State programs (PA state grant, state work-study, others) * School programs (need-based grants and scholarships) Be aware of deadlines! File after January 1st and will need taxes

Avoid Scholarship Scams! Never pay for a fee or provide credit card/account information If you see the word “Guarantee” walk away Check all contact information Shamokin Area scholarships will not be out until the end of March. Please see the guidance website! A very great opportunity to get some extra money for school. Shamokin Area Alumni Test- Sign up and take the test! Coming in March Blood Drives Employers such as: knoebels, gun club, etc. Fastweb.com is a great resource for scholarships

If you wish to play a college sport specifically D1/D2, please do the following: 10th grade year Register with eligibilitycenter.org 11th grade year Take SAT/ACT– NCAA code- 9999 End of the year ask counselor to upload transcript 12th grade year Take SAT/ACT again- NCAA code 9999 Request final amateurism certification after April 1 After graduation, upload official transcript with proof of graduation
