Community Service Hours
40 hours are needed by May 25, 2017. Worksheet & volunteer opportunities on Community Service Board in Counseling Office. Must be a Non Profit Agency. Hours must not be part of a class/school requirement.

What should I do if I’m struggling in a class?
STEP 1: Speak directly to your teacher Listen to what they have to say Follow through on their suggestions STEP 2: If problem hasn’t been solved after Step 1, make an appointment to speak with Counselor STEP 3: If further assistance is needed –Your parent may wish to contact teacher & perhaps a conference will be needed

10 Ways to be Successful at MHS
Talk to your teachers. Make sure you attend each class, EVERYDAY! Listen in class. Bring a daily planner to class and USE IT! Stay on top of grades & assignments by websites “Q” Student Connect & teachers websites. Get involved at Moorpark High School. Be an advocate for yourself! Make good choices. Log on to Naviance. Know that people are here to help.

Do you want to prepare yourself for advanced classes your Junior & Senior years? Attend MHS’s free Study Skills Workshop November 2nd / November 9th / November 16th Wednesdays 8 am – 9 am

APEX Program Applications available in Counseling Office.
Can take up to two classes per semester. Computer Labs open 3:15 – 5:15 pm- M-F. Deadline for APEX completion is May 25, 2017. Priority is given to Seniors & Juniors. Potential college athletes should not remediate thru APEX (courses not NCAA approved).

ASVAB Free test given at MHS to 10th – 12th graders October 5th during Periods 1-4 November 2nd during 4th period -Follow up meeting to help interpret scores Helps identify your interests & gives information on verbal, math, science & technical skills. After test – Identify the occupations that match your interests.

Private/Out of State College Guidelines
Admission requirements vary by institution. Many use A-G criteria. Some require additional Math & Science. Check admissions tests required. Most use “committee” type process & comprehensive review. For highly selective colleges – Strong admissions test scores, rigorous academic load, & many of the factors used in UC Comprehensive Review. Usually high tuition for Non Residents.
