2 FAST FACTS Santiago de Chile is the capital and largest city in Chile.
The population of Chile is 17,295,000. Chile uses pesos. This is the Chile flag. Chile got its name from the Mapuche word chilli which means “ Deepest point in the earth”. Chile is 756,950 sq km. People in Chile speak Spanish. Chile is a democracy.

Coat of Arms Moai statues Christ Mountain Chacabuco Puerto Chacabuco is a Chilean town in Aisén commune. Administratively it belongs to Aisén Province in Aisén Region and is located at the head of Aisén Fjord. It is the main port of the region, a port of call for ships sailing to the Laguna San Rafael National Park and the terminus of a Navimag ferry service from Puerto Montt. Christ mountain Christ of the Andes High in the Andes mountains is an enormous statue of Christ known as El Cristo de los Andes (The Christ of the Andes). It sits right on the border dividing Argentina from Chile, and was built to commemorate the resolution of boundary questions that had more than once threatened peaceful relationships between the nations. Torres del paine Famous for it’s three peaks Moai statues The 887 statues'[3] production and transportation is considered a remarkable creative and physical feat.[4] The tallest moai erected, called Paro, was almost 10 metres (33 ft) high and weighed 82 tons;[5] the heaviest erected was a shorter but squatter moai at Ahu Tongariki, weighing 86 tons; and one unfinished sculpture, if completed, would have been approximately 21 metres (69 ft) tall with a weight of about 270 tons. 5 NATIONAL HOLIDAYS Navy Day on May 21 commemorates the Battle of Iquique. The National Holiday on September 18 celebrates the establishment of the fist government. Labour Day on May 1 is the day where more shops will be closed then any other holiday. Banking Holiday on December 31 is when all banks close down.

9 CLIMATE Chile within its borders hosts at least seven major climatic subtypes, ranging from desert in the north, to alpine tundra and glaciers in the east and south east, humid subtropical in Easter Island, Oceanic in the south and Mediterranean climate in central Chile.

10 INDUSTRY/AGRICULTURE
Onions, beans, grapes, apples, oats, wheat, pears, corn, peaches, asparagus, garlic are the main agricultural products of Chile, along with wool, beef and poultry. Chile also produces fish and timber.
