Welcome to Math I am very excited to be working with such energetic, creative and hardworking students. I am determined to ensure the success of each and every one of you. Homework Homework is assigned almost every night of the week. You are expected to show ALL your work. Completeness Check, Incomplete, 0 Review homework in class and students are expected to correct wrong answers Students should ask questions about homework Homework rubric Hand homework in one day late for half credit Homework assignments may also be collected and counted as a grade Math Calendar

Math Calendar For each month, there are four weeks of questions.
Students must complete the whole page by the end of the month (due first day of the following month) Students must show work on loose-leaf paper and write answer on blank calendar Students must staple calendar, blank calendar with answers, and scrap and hand in Math calendar will count as a homework grade Math calendars will be accepted two days late, but points will be deducted

Classwork Math Journal
Warm Up: Every day there is a problem on the SmartBoard. Students come in, take out composition notebook, and complete problem in composition notebook. If students do not finish warm up, they are expected to complete it at a different time Math journals are checked every two weeks and counted as a classwork grade U, unsatisfactory: 60 ✔-: 70 ✔: 80 ✔+: 90 ✔++: 100 0: no journal handed in Exit Slips At the end of some classes, I give an exit slip. A few questions on material covered in class or material from last nights homework Students have opportunity to write a comment on the slip, explaining if there is something he/she struggled with Facebook, twitter, instagram, snap chat board

Complete 2 centers per day (15 minute centers) Group leader Tickets Fill out center sheet weekly Classwork Rubric used for center grade

Tests/Quizzes Tests/Quizzes are given at the end of each Chapter
Written tests and computer tests (link-it) Study guides and test review sheets are posted on the website If a test or quiz is below 64, students need to have it signed by a parent/guardian

Extra Help Tuesday after school 3:00-3:25
Students must bring a note signed by a parent/guardian (by 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday) stating they have permission to stay for extra help. Please include how he/she will be getting home after extra help.

Mathematics is important-think about activities that require mathematical thinking Show how mathematics is used when you are out with your family Discuss how mathematics is used in careers such as engineering, architecture, and medicine, in space exploration, and in other real-life situations Take time to review and check your homework.
