3 Year 5 : Can I sell you? LC1 – How do I know what to sell?
LC2 – How can I be a master baker? Children will begin their process diary by conducting market research with years 3 and 4. Children will present their results in a graph. Children will then have their own cake tasting session evaluating taste, appearance, shape, cost and texture. Children will read a range of rhyming poems and create their own based on a cake sale. Children will begin reading ‘Billionaire Boy’. Children will begin to research recipes using a search engine. Children will compare results to choose the best recipes using trusted websites. Children will begin to create their own recipe book using ibook. Children will create their own fact file about a famous chef. Children will continue to use their process diary to write recipes they will use for the cake sale. Children will focus on reading poems by Michael Rosen. Children will perform poems for their class. Children will create their own poem about chocolate cake and memorise it to perform to the rest of the class. LC3 – Could I be a TV chef? How can I convince you to buy my cake? LC4 – Do I understand the difference between profit and loss? Children will bake one of their recipes and use the cakes for market research. They will continue to update their process diary evaluating their recipes based on their market research feedback. Children, in groups, will plan and create a persuasive advert to be filmed and screened in assembly, before the cake sale. Children will focus on using persuasive language and creating a jingle. Using their process diary children will decide on their final recipes for the cake sale. Children will price up their recipes and discuss prices for products so they can ensure they make a profit. Children will compare and identify the features of persuasive adverts and posters. Children will then create their own advertising for the cake sale. Forest Academy

4 Year 5 : Can I sell you? LC5 –Can I bake to a budget?
LC6 – Can I use formulas in a spreadsheet? Children will bake their cakes for the cake sale which will take place on Friday. They will use their advertisements to persuade people to buy their cakes. Children will present their products attractively and practice good customer service. Children will then complete their process diary by evaluating the cake sale. Children will continue reading ‘Billionaire Boy’. They will write a character description of Joe Spud and predict what will happen in the next chapter. Children will use spreadsheets to calculate how much was spent on ingredients and how much they sold their products for. They will calculate their profit and discuss any losses and produce graphs. Children will reflect on the topic and discuss how they could have improved their cake sale. Children will continue to read Billionaire Boy and plan and write their own ending, moving to another time or place. E-safety: Children will learn how top keep their computer safe from viruses and bugs. Forest Academy
