4. The video footage I just showed you was captured by a system that designed to identify and give visibility to fatigue and distraction events – events that were previously invisible to the driver, to the site manager, to the safety director, and to the CEO.
The system is called the Driver Safety System.

Leveraging RFID vests, antenna detects personnel and signals an in-cab alarm when personnel enter detection zone. When wired to the Product Link digital switch, this also relays an event to VisionLink reports & alerts.

Object Detection includes a 6.5” touch-screen display with an integrated audible alarm. Cameras and radars enhance hazard detection and are tailored to the size and type of equipment. Depending on machine type, coverage on one, two or four sides of the machine provides optimal viewing ranges.
Note: The number of cameras and radars varies based on machine model to provide optimal coverage.

The system uses both visual and audible signals to alert the operator when it senses an object near the machine. Multiple proximity level alerts help the operator assess the distance to the object and take timely, appropriate action to avoid it.
Camera views are available at all times…and the camera image occupies 90% of the main screen…allowing the operator to identify detected objects without leaving the cab.
Object Detection senses both moving and stationary objects, with no need for tagging.
For operator convenience, a snooze feature, available on most machines, allows the audible alarm to be temporarily silenced. If there is a change in gear, radars become active after being in standby mode, or if an object is detected in a different zone, the snooze feature will disable.
The mute function, only available on large wheel loaders/dozers allows the audible alarm to be silenced for one hour.

18. Radars are robust units that have a proven track record of value, durability and reliability. Object Detection is a self-contained system that works independently and requires no office software or other off-board infrastructure.
The radars can sense objects through rain, snow, fog and dust…making it more effective than camera-only systems. Plus, radars can detect objects without the need for RFID tags, adding an extra layer of safety to your mine site operations.

A GNSS based system which tracks machines and light vehicles, allowing operators to view other machine locations and provides proximity based alarming.

22. Low Priority Proximity Alarms
The lowest priority proximity alarm is generated when the path projection regions of two machines intersect.
The path projection region (1) appears on the plan view, a proximity alarm icon appears in the bottom right corner (2), and a single beep is sounded.

An escalation to a critical priority alarm occurs when body areas of two machines intersect.
