1 Adoration Confession Supplications Intercession Thanksgiving Grace
This type of prayer focus’ on God’s character and they adore him for who He is. As Christians turn to God in adoration, they are better able to keep their own lives in perspective. The Bible repeatedly speaks of God being worthy of praise in this way (e.g. in Psalm 48: 1) This type of prayer is often understood as praying in tongues and is a prayer led by God’s Holy Spirit. Such prayers make no sense in terms of human language, but they are believed to have been strengthened by the Spirit and bring the believer closer to God. In this type of prayer, people will bring before God anything that they believe they have done wrong, or things they have failed to do that they ought to have done. In these prayers Christians are seeking God’s forgiveness. Adoration Confession Supplications Intercession Thanksgiving Grace Praying in the spirit In this type of prayer, people ask for help. This may mean seeking God’s help in a challenging situation, asking for God’s healing or intervention in a struggling relationship to bring peace. It should not be a wish list. In this type of prayer, people pray on behalf of others in the hope that God will help them. This type of prayer is normally associated with the Christian practice of thanking God before eating a meal. The prayer acknowledges God’s love and generosity to his people and reminds Christians that their relationship with Him has not been earned by their behaviour. In this type of prayer, Christians thank God. These prayers help Christians remain grateful for God’s provision in their lives.
