Private Adoption Facilitated by a licensed adoption agency
One or both birth parents select the adoptive parents for their child or ask the agency to find a family for their child The agency has approved applicants for the parents to choose from Adoptive parents need to pass a home study Birth parents must sign consents to adoption 48 hours after the birth of their child The birth parents may withdraw their consent for 21 days after signing them A lawyer is required

International Adoption
To adopt a child from another country, Manitoba residents must apply through a licensed adoption agency or a Child and Family Services Agency Manitoba residents will pay fees to the agency, Citizenship and Immigration Canada and organizations in the child’s country ( $ range 20,000 – 50,000 depending on country) An adoption social worker will supervise the placement for at least six months A lawyer is not required
