A sound engineer! You might not know it but engineers are involved in so much of our enjoyment of music! Acoustic engineers use their knowledge of physics to design the gig venue you go to, while live sound engineers use their technical skills to make sure a band sounds great live on stage at big festivals. Engineers also work in recording studios and design equipment, such as powerful guitar amps, microphones or home hi-fi speakers.

Designing smart cloths
Our favourite garment is the iMiniSkirt from the CuteCircuit's Fall Winter 14/15 Collection, the first ever completely interactive fashion collection presented on schedule at New York Fashion Week. The show featured fashions that include advanced wearable technology, seamlessly integrated into beautiful ready-to-wear items. The Bluetooth dresses and accessories allowed the models to control what their dresses would look like on the runway, via the dedicated ‘Q by CuteCircuit’ App, in realtime!

CrossRail tunnel builder!
I’m a trainee tunnelling engineer and we’re working on sprayed concrete lined tunnels. How these are made is that drivers excavate the clay under the ground to create the shape of the tunnels and I tell them how much clay they have to excavate. Then I tell the people who come in how much concrete needs to be sprayed on top of that to reinforce the permanent shape of the tunnels. When the project is completed it’s going to be fantastic. Tube trains in London are famous for being busy but this high-speed link from the east to the west of London will have much bigger trains.

R+D engineer BBC! As an engineer at the BBC Nick Pink has been involved with hit TV shows like Dragons Den and Eastenders. What’s more, his work at the Research & Development (R & D) department means that his ideas will help to shape the future of television for us all. Nick says “If you look at Avatar, that film was made successful because of the technology and the story. You get the best product when the two come together. I’ve always considered myself a creative type and the fact that I’ve been able to do core, creative things yet have them technically grounded has made them a success”

Mechanical engineer and sport data analyst!
Football managers want to know exactly how well their players are performing. Sports fanatic want detailed match reports in magazines and newspapers, and arm chair fans want instant mobile phone updates about how their favorite team are playing where ever they are. Accurate player data is essential for modern professional sport and software engineers like Charles who turn match facts into help products for customers.
