Ir + a + place I am going to Saudi Arabia in a car- Yo voy a Saudi Arabia en coche. The “voy” is the conjugated verb, ir, in the yo form. The “a” gives the sentence future tense.
3
Ir + a + infinitive I am going to eat- Yo voy a comer
Voy is the verb ir conjugated in the yo form The “a” after voy makes this sentence explain something that is going to happen in the future.

Wrong Examples of Ir + a + place
I am going to the mall- Yo voy el centro comercial. In this sentence, there is no “a” after “voy.” This causes the sentence to say: I go to the mall. This is in present tense, instead of future tense. To make this correct, there would have to be an “al” after “voy” due to fact that it is a+el=al. The correct sentence would be: Yo voy al centro comercial.

Wrong Examples of Ir + a + infinitive
I am going to run – Yo voy corro. This sentence is in present tense due to the fact that there is no “a” after the “voy”. Also, the verb correr is conjugated in the “yo” form, when it should be in its infinitive form, which is “correr” The correct sentence would look like this: Yo voy a correr.
