Apply the template 2 methods
Apply existing template to old file Copy slides from old file and paste into file that has the new template already applied When you paste, select to use the destination formatting There are 2 ways to correctly apply this template to an existing PPT presentation. One is to open the file you wish to convert to the new template and apply the existing template. The other method, the one I prefer since it usually doesn’t clutter the master template, is to copy your slides from the old file in slide sorter mode and to paste the slides into a file that has the new template already applied. The trick is, when you paste you select to use the destination formatting. Either way, you will still need to go into the slide master and see if there are any old template slides that need to be deleted. You still may need to go into the slides individually and apply the new template master slide in order to delete the old master slides.
9
Apply the template Open the presentation
From the Design menu bar, click the Drawer button
10
Applying the template After clicking ‘Browse for Themes…’
Find the file with the theme and click ‘Apply' After clicking the DRAWER button, more templates show up. If you’ve saved a template to your computer but at the bottom of the window are two buttons. Click on the “Browse for Themes…” button.
11
Apply the template If a background has not changed on a slide
From the ribbon bar, select ‘Layout’ and choose a new layout from the options provided
12
Keep titles & bullets short
Sentence case style is recommended for titles and bullets Use only 3-5 bullets per slide Keep your bullets short: 6-15 words per bullet Text on bullets should never be smaller than 16 points Watch out for orphans – they make the presentation harder to read That’s an orphan
13
Colors & fonts A good color for highlighted text is gold
knockout A good color for highlighted text is gold Titles and body text are white Title font is Palatino Linotype Body text font is Helvetica Light Standard When placing text on a graphic, use contrasting colors to make the text stand out knockout knockout knockout
14
Colors hint For projection presentation, it’s recommended to not place red on top of a blue background The text or graphic may look OK on a computer monitor, but most VGA projectors will give a bleeding effect to the text or graphic Use another light color to separate the red from the blue Red Red
15
Inserting a video Choose ‘Insert’ from the ribbon
Select ‘Video’ and then ‘Video on MyPC’ Find the video on your computer and select and click ‘Insert’ From the ‘Video Tools’ ribbon select ‘Playback’ to adjust how to play the video From the ‘Start’ dropdown change ‘On Click’ to ‘Automatically’ so the video plays as soon as the slide comes up Check ‘Play Full Screen’
16
Video If you need to load the PPT onto another computer, always place a copy of the video with the PPT file MP4 videos are cross-platform compatible MOV and AVI videos are not cross-platform compatible Use1080p video for the best quality
17
Printing To print, click on ‘File’ from the ribbon and select ‘Print’ from the left menu options From the ‘Print’ page, you can select: What slides, slides per page, collate, color or grayscale The graphics in this template are optimized to print on a Grayscale or Black & White format to use less toner
