They are made of chemical building blocks called amino acids. Foods such as meat, fish, eggs, dairy products, and soybeans provide all the amino acids your body needs. A person who follows a vegetarian diet may need to combine certain plant foods, such as beans and rice to gain all the needed amino acids.
