Role of DG Systems DG Systems Project Saksham The IT infrastructure upgradation project of CBEC is called ‘SAKSHAM’. System Integration (SI) team Provides and maintains IT infrastructure (data centre, servers, etc) for running all CBEC applications Ensuring security of CBEC IT infrastructure User Access Management (SSO IDs, ICEGATE IDs, first time mapping of Officers to Customs or Central Excise) Issues VPN IDs LAN/WAN team Ensures last mile connectivity by providing LAN WAN connections to all the field formations and other CBEC Offices Provides end user hardware (thin clients/ All-in-one computers) System Integration LAN/WAN Handles development of the GST Application to be used by CBEC tax officials. Providing hands-on application training for the CBEC officers. Operations and maintenance of the application after roll-out Operating help-desk for the ACES GST systems. Interaction between DG (Sys) & GSTN
Goods and Service Tax Network (GSTN) is the section 8 of the new Companies Act, Non-government, private limited company. It was incorporated on March 28, 2013. GSTN would create a common GST portal for taxpayers to handle four modules – Registration, Returns, Payments and Refunds. Data entered by taxpayers on GSTN portal is distributed to tax authorities for requisite action, and the decision of tax authorities communicated back to taxpayers Functions of GST Common Portal Registration Payment Return Refunds CBEC GST Application

CBEC GST mobile application (Android Version) was launched in Android on 23rd of February, 2017 with downloads CBEC GST Application can be downloaded through the flowing path in Android: Go to playstore In the Search field, Type “CBEC GST” Download and install the CBEC GST application

Project Saksham: Revamping IT Infrastructure
Proposed Infrastructure As Is Infrastructure Augmented Network Bandwidth in bands of 4 Mbps, 08 Mbps & 16 Mbps for high speed connectivity and alternate connectivity from a different Service Provider through Optical Fibre Cable (OFC) 1 Slow Connection Slow Response Time Augmented Server & Storage Capacity in Data Centre to cater to increased load 2 Frequent breakdowns Enhancing efficiency of departmental officers – new Desktops, Laptops & Handhelds 3 No Mobile enablement Provisions for applications to be Mobile enabled 4 Inadequate helpdesk services Augmented Security Infrastructure for safeguarding information 5 Inadequate facility for uploading scanned documents Service Desk for integrated IT support 6
