Needs today are challenging IT infratructures for SMB
New Devices : support of lastest devices such GigE AP and PTZ camera New usages : OpenTouch, PIMPhony, Cloud, Social medias, Virtualization Applications Cloud Virtualization Social medias Mobility
8
Clarify typical SMB needs today
The Opportunity Is There But The SMB Market Is Tough SMB market is price sensitive as most solutions will do the job You will always find a competitor that is offering cheaper LAN or WLAN When selling on price, your margins are low while customers need Installation and Support Different types of equipment in use, offered by different Vendors To lower CAPEX, some SMBs are buying up to 3 different vendors for the Unified Communications, LAN, and Wi-Fi portions of their network, which was OK when you had One user = 1 phone = 1 PC = 1 port = 1 VLAN experiencing seamless mobility across the network or their Internet connectivity is slow? You need to convince your costumer about the solution benefits. Here you create customer stickiness, protect your installed base and open the opportunity for additional sales. What happens when a user is not experiencing seamless mobility across the network or their Internet connectivity is slow? What is the impact of an inconsistent security policy? Where is the fault ? Is it the ISP ? Is it the LAN ? Is it the WLAN ? Is it the PBX ?

They are acting as Overlay wireless network for Branch-Office, can be managed in different clusters and avoid IT/Wireless expertise at Branch SMB For small company, 4005 OAW controller is compact, cost effective WLAN controller and supports all the advanced wireless services that the larger OmniAccess WLAN controllers provide. Instant APs or AP1101 can be alternative; the IT will have to manage each AP separately.
39
Use cases Remote worker (part-time home /office or fulltime home)
OmniAccess Remote Access Points are enterprise-class indoor remote APs, capable of supporting multiple functions including wired and wireless access, air monitoring/wireless intrusion detection and prevention across the 2.4 GHz spectrum. Centrally managed from 4005 OAW controller, RAP supports authenticated wired and wireless access, and policy-based forwarding mechanisms to allow access to centralized and local resources. They are the ideal complement of IP Touch phones for building an easy to set up, easy to manage and secure remote worker or branch office environment. For small company, 4005 OAW controller is compact, cost effective WLAN controller and supports all the advanced wireless services that the larger OmniAccess WLAN controllers provide. Instant APs or AP1101 can be alternative; the IT will have to manage each AP separately.

Use cases Road Warrior : a Virtual Intranet Access
The Virtual Intranet Access (VIA) is an advanced remote access client that includes traditional IPSec capabilities and then extends them with automatic network detection and connection, SSL fallback and wireless configuration. VIA extends an Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise offering for remote access technologies: Connecting the road warriors to the corporate network without the need to carry hardware with them The ability to provide consistent connectivity to users when they are away from their office network
