Laughing Gull (Larus atricilla)
Non-breeding birds have a white head, sometimes tinged with grey. Breeding adult has black hood, red bill. Gray back and wings. Wingtips black. Habitat: Beaches, saltmarshes and lagoons.

Herring Gull (Larus argentatus)
Mostly white. Back and wings gray. Wingtips black with white spots. Bill yellow with a red spot. Pink legs. Habitat: Seacoasts, lakes, and cities.

Common Tern (Sterna hirundo)
Rather small. Mainly white, with a forked tail. Breeding adults have black cap. Red bill with black tip. Habitat: Marshes, beaches, lakes and rivers.

Rock Dove (Columba livia)
Introduced Species Usually gray with two black bars across the wings. White rump with dark tail tip. Sometimes blackish, rusty, or mostly white. Habitat: Cities, towns, farms, and rock outcroppings.

Mourning Dove (Zenaida macroura)
Mostly tan / gray overall. Black spots on wings visible when folded. Long tailed with pointed wings.

Great Horned Owl (Bubo virginianus)
Large, with widely spaced ear tufts. White throat. Finely barred underparts. Orange-brown facial discs. Habitat: Deep forests, open country, deserts and sometimes city parks.

Northern Gannet Gannets dive for fish, sometimes from heights of 100 feet. They can getup to 50 feet underwater! These dives can be seen from almost 3 miles away.

Barred black and white above. Face and underparts grayish tan. Male has red crown and nape. Female has red nape only. Habitat: Open woodlands, farmlands, orchards, shade trees and parks.

Northern Flicker (Colaptes auratus)
Habitat: Woodlands, deserts, and suburbs. Upperpart barred black and tan. Breast band black. White rump. Males have a black moustache. Flashes yellow in the wings and tail.

Blue Jay (Cyanocitta cristata)
Crest, back, wings and tail bright blue. Wings are spotted with white, barred with black. Face and underparts whitish. Tail with white tip. Habitat: Forests of all types, gardens, and parks.

Habitat: Woodland thickets, garden shrubbery, and parks. Gray overall, with black cap. Rusty undertail coverts below long tail.

Northern Mockingbird (Mimus polyglottos)
Habitat: Lawns, gardens, open woods, farmland, and thickets. Slender and long-tailed. Gray above, paler below. White wing bars, become large patches, which are visible in flight. Tail black with white borders.

Olive-green above, with no wing bars. Underparts whitish. Gray crown, bordered by black stripes and white eyebrow. Habitat: Deciduous forests, shade trees, gardens and parks.

Habitat: Coniferous forests. Males streaked blue-gray above; cap, rump, and sides of breast yellow. Breast and sides black. White eyebrow and throat. Female similar but duller.

Female Crested with strong, cone-shaped bill. Male bright red with black face and red bill. Female grayish buff, with red on crest, wings and tail; bill pink. Male Habitat: Brushy woodlands, thickets, garden shrubbery, and parks.
