SoftNAS for Enterprise Cloud NAS Storage
Enterprise NAS Features for Azure SoftNAS NAS Storage Enables… Scales from gigabytes to petabytes – pay as you grow! Simple administration designed for non-storage experts. Adjustable virtual hardware configurations. Tuneable performance levels remain elastic throughout the customer lifecycle. Elastically switch to “new” storage options over the entire lifecycle (e.g., higher speed SSDs, lower cost HDD). Use what’s needed and pay for what’s used. Upgrade and grow as needs change! FLEXIBLE DATA SERVICES Azure Disk and BLOB CIFS w/ Active directory NFS w/LDAP iSCSI Performance adaptable Disk SSD Networking Caching Block replication Encryption Cloud disks Compression Inline deduplication Instant snapshots Multi-level caching Storage pools Thin provisioning Writable SnapClones™ Why leave those great advanced storage features behind. Get all the enterprise NAS capabilities on Azure with SoftNAS. SoftNAS provides the best practice features customers have come to expect on-prem to Azure that enable: Data efficiency (thin provisioning, dedupe & compression) Lifecycle management tools (snapshots and easy provisioning) Data Safety (multi-site replication, encryption) Performance adaptable (flexible caching configurations using RAM and disk tiers) We designed the product to enable NON-experts to quickly create an Azure NAS storage system using our guided configuration wizard. Most of our users are not purebred storage admins… they are people looking for a path the leverage Azure for an enterprise class storage experience without the complexity! And here’s the key message Unlike on-prem storage fixtures, SoftNAS allows customers to adjust to performance and capacity requirements as needed. That means if they are doing a development project and just need enough to test the application and then need to grow to a production roll-out, they can non-destructively adjust capacity and the storage performance to meet their needs. As deployments grow, they can again adjust the storage characteristics to match the need. Customers only pay for what they need and what they use. No hardware lock in. Customers can experiment with their workloads to match the requirements – Try that with a CapEx on-prem model! Most Customers Don’t Realize they can get this flexibility benefit! © SoftNAS, Inc.

Multi-Data Store Use Case Example
Customers often need a combination of performance sensitive workloads and capacity oriented storage options. SoftNAS provides a single point of interface that leverages concurrent back-end data stores. High Performance: Uses block-backed premium SSD with high IOPS Mid-Range Performance: Uses block-backed standard storage options Capacity Oriented: Uses object-backed storage Example: NFS Shares for… SoftNAS Leverages… Web Server Image Block Premium Data Store Website Images Block Standard Data Store Older user submitted files Object Data Store © SoftNAS, Inc.

Use Case: NFS/CIFS/iSCSI Storage on Azure Cloud
Challenge: Company needs to quickly SaaS enable a customer-facing application on Azure but app does not support Azure Blob Needs AD/LDAP integration Solution: Re-write app to support Azure Blob (unlikely) Do not change application: Use SoftNAS Cloud NAS on Azure for NFS/CIFS/iSCSI Azure or On-prem hosted VMs © SoftNAS, Inc.

Cloud NAS Storage… Unique Value Proposition
Conventional On-Prem Storage SoftNAS NAS Storage Fixed configuration locked into the performance levels available at the time. Performance may not fit future needs (may over-buy anticipating future). If you don’t get it wrong… depreciate it and hope to get new budget next year Adjustable virtual hardware configurations. Tuneable performance levels remain elastic throughout the customer lifecycle. Elastically switch to “new” storage options over the entire lifecycle (e.g., higher speed SSDs, lower cost HDD). Use what’s needed and pay for what’s used. Upgrade and grow as needs change!
