3. CEPOL New Legal Mandate
CEPOL new regulation was applied on 1 July The agency became the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Training.
The regulation had a strong impact on CEPOL:
A wider target group.
the current Governing Board became a Management Board (with the European Commission as voting member).
the Director is now Executive Director.
CEPOL National Contact Points (NCPs) became CEPOL National Units (CNUs).

9. Successful in delivery
In the course of 2016, CEPOL was able to react to evolving political priorities and to swiftly implement relevant topical residential activities and online trainings.
CEPOL trained law enforcement officers on issues vital to the security of the EU and its citizens.
Our activities were designed to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and best practices, and to help developing a common European law enforcement culture.

EU Policy Cycle topics have accounted for a significant portion of CEPOL’s training: 28% of the agency’s activities were dedicated to those topics:

CEPOL implemented a portfolio of activities comprising:

In total, CEPOL trained participants on counter terrorism issues.

12. Counter terrorism partnership project (CTPP)
11 residential activities (6 in Jordan, 2 in Lebanon, 2 in Tunisia, 1 in Turkey)
6 study visits for 34 participants (to Austria, Cyprus, Germany, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain)

Courses on migration
CEPOL addressed the challenges stemming from the unprecedented migration flows thanks to its multi-layered approach of training activities:

In total, CEPOL trained 387 law enforcement officers in migration matters.

15. 30 Students are participating to this Master programme
European Joint Master Programme (EJMP)
CEPOL’s European Joint Master Programme, its first fully accredited Master programme, was launched successfully in October It consists of 7 modules. 5 modules were implemented in 2016.
The first edition of the Master ( ) is conducted under the leadership of the German Police University.
The programme is accredited by the Spanish accreditation institute ANECA.
The Master diploma will be awarded by the Spanish University UNED.

16. CEPOL Annual Research and Science conference
CEPOL 2016 Research and Science Conference took place in Budapest, Hungary.
The conference brought together over 200 academics and practitioners and a number of high level key note speakers, including two at very high level - the secretary general of INTERPOL, Mr Jürgen Stock, and the director of EUROPOL, Mr. Rob Wainwright.
The CEPOL 2016 Research and Science Conference aimed at being a platform to engage in professional and informed discussion on the future of policing and law enforcement education.
