Introduction of Inclusion of Vietnamese with Disabilities (IVWD) Follow-on Phase

IVWD Achievements Piloted models of inclusive education (IE) at primary and junior secondary school levels, more than 75% CWD in project areas are in school Developed (IE) training materials for teachers and school administrators, and trained nearly 3500 teachers and school administrators from every province of Vietnam Established and strengthened 40 parent associations in support of inclusion of nearly 1300 CWD Piloted IT training for PWD at 2 schools in Hanoi and HCMC, training more than 500 young Vietnamese with disabilities in advanced IT skills and placing more than 80% of program graduates in jobs.

IVWD Follow-on Phase From October 2011 to September 2014
Includes two major components: IT Training for PWD in Hanoi, HCMC, and Da Nang Pilot using ICT to improve quality for and remove barriers to education of CWD

Component 1: IT Training Program for PWD
Establish ITTP in Da Nang, train 250 students over 3 years Phase down support for ITTP in Hanoi and HCMC, train at least 400 students in Hanoi and HCMC Achieve sustainability for ITTP in all three schools Promote replication of ITTP model within the higher education and vocational training systems of Vietnam

Component 2: ICT for IE Increase awareness among policy makers on how ICT can be used to support education of CWD Work with MOET to pilot various ICT initiatives Accessible examinations Text-to-speech technology Video lectures Distance learning Online IE library Promote institutionalization of using ICT to support education of CWD in the education system Rough timeline: 2012: setup structures and develop/improve assistive technologies 2013: pilot assistive technologies 2014: document pilots and promote institutionalization
