-assignments = 2/3 of the tot. no.of assignments is a requirement for signature (proof of class participation) -language research participation = 1 assignment Late submissions: If the asignment was not submitted in class, it can be submitted in office hours ONLY (not via , at the porta etc.) and ONLY in the same week when it was given in class (be in touch with your colleagues - not everything is published on TSA’s web page) - handwritten (avoid copying)

4-5 speakers, tot min. application list - office door, Nov (Room 15) business topic: linked with the syllabus (after the topic is done in class); reliable sources, referencing before the presentation: 1. check the topic with the teacher informally 2. office hours: a) slides: layout, content, spelling b) signalling phrases

4 Assessment rapport (eye-contact, loudness, communication!) language:
a) presentation phrases! b) appropriate style c) vocabulary/grammar content & structure (creativity, research effort, clarity, sources mentioned, …) professional manner (body language, preparedness)

11 Preparing a difficult text in Business English
Read the text. Underline unknown words/expressions. Find their meaning (dictionary, note-book, slides, web sources,...). Make sure you understand the text paragraph by paragraph. Retell the main message of each paragraph IN YOUR OWN WORDS. Make sure you understand the whole text (the main ideas). Retell the main message of the whole text IN YOUR OWN WORDS. See which words/expressions in the text were important for each topic (see the slides or your notebook). Explain their meaning in simple English. Think what exercises could be expected in the test (for each text). REVISE!

14 Typical mistakes learning dictionary definitions by heart
not reading the texts carefully or not reading them at all thinking it is impossible to prepare properly (students with weaker English) thinking that preparation takes very little time (students with good English)
