11. Good Leadership Synthesis Paragraph
“What makes a good”, Deborah Blagg and Susan Young, helps me to argue that not everyone have what it takes to be a good leader. There are some qualities that a person has to have in order to be a good leader. Communication is the key to being a good leader. With this being said, I am able to include several quotes from the various professors whom included there definition of a good leader within this source. Nitin Nohris, professor of \Administration Dean at Harvard University states, “"You can reach people through logos or logic, by appealing to their sense of what is rational," he explains. “You can use pathos, appealing to their emotions, or you can make an argument based on their sense of values or ethos”. From this statement from Nohria, I have concluded that communication is key to good leadership. “Presidential Leadership”, an excerpt from This Nation American Government and politics textbook online, allow me to argue that presidential leadership is a hard job especially when trying to be a good leader. This source also tells about certain responsibilities the president may need to have in order in order to fully be able to express the functions of the president. This source allows me to argue that being a good presidential leader is difficult. The author explains this by including the president must quickly transition from campaigning to governing the country. Presidential leaders spend so much time with the campaigning process and stating all their promises in order to win the election that when they actually win the election, they forget to implement the promises. This source states that not only do the candidate have to be a good leader for the people to elect them but also for the Electoral College to elect them as well. The nation textbook allows me to make this point because it provides statistical data from a table included in the source involving electoral votes in presidential elections. “What is an effective leader”, by Dave Ulrich, helps me to argue that there are specific traits that makes an effective leader. These traits include first shaping the future by finding out where you are going. The second trait which Ulrich states that allow me to argue certain rules make an effective leader is making things happen by doing whatever it takes to get where you are trying to go by working together with others. Ulrich includes data from several interviews he conducted which will allow me to argue the point that about seventy percent of effective leadership is maintained through these traits. The author has helped me to conclude that with the traits that make up leadership is that leaders are learners and that an effective leader must learn to obtain these traits in order to be successful at leading.

12. What is Power Synthesis Paragraph
“What is power, and how can it be used for the common good?” Robert Linthicum, helps me to argue that power is expressed as the ability, capacity and the willingness to act. I feel there is multiple definitions to what power is but I believe this definition to be one of many. Linthicum states that there is more than one kind of power. Linthicum helps me to argue that power and be used for common good. The author helps me to make this point based on the fact that ne inputs several instances of power usages such stating that Jesus uses power for common good. “What is power”, G. William Domhoff, helps me to argue that power is being able to produce effects that you want to produce. Domhoff explains that power is measured. Domhoff allow me to argue that there are certain indicators that involve power which includes who wins, who governs, who benefits and who has a reputation for power indicator. The definition of power Domhoff has lead me to the conclusion that power is the ability to produce efforts. “The evolution of the presidency”, an excerpt from American Government Online Textbook helps me to argue that presidency has evolved. I am able to state how the powers of the president has evolved and now, the powers of the president is considered to be equal. In order to make these points, the author has includes information about what the first few presidents contributed to the united states concerning power of the president versus power of congress and how it has led to the turning point in the 1930’s during Franklin Roosevelts presidency. This source also allows me to argue that the president has a large amount of power. To help me argue this point, an excerpt of Article II of the Constitution sections one through four, is embedded in the text which specifically explain the executive powers. Also, the author breaks down those topics into subtopics of military, diplomatic, appointment and legislative powers. With this being said, I am truly able to argue that the president maintained a great deal of power until the establishment of the constitution which limited the powers of the president.

13. Power of the president Synthesis Paragraph
“Can a president be too strong?” an excerpt from a Scholastics U.S. Presidents article, helps me to argue that the presidential powers today are different from what they were many years ago. This article provides information that many years ago when the constitution was written, many of the authors of the constitution did not know about a lot of the resources we have today including missiles. This source also helps me argue that in some ways, the constitution was ignored by some presidents. This article provides me evidence to support my claim by giving evidence supported by the constitution to show the powers of the president and also it states how presidents like Franklin Roosevelt who has stepped out against the constitution. “What is power, and how can it be used for common good”, Robert Linthicum helps me to argue that power is not only used for common good, but many leaders use power for bad. Many leader may use power for bad like a president or dictator. Linthicum helps me to make this point by explaining that Hitler, the leader of the Nazi party and chancellor of Germany used his power for bad. Hitler abused his power by killing and persecuting individuals whom he considered undesirables. “Presidential powers”, an excerpt of the Constitution from National Paralegal College, helps me to argue that the president has many powers under the constitution however the president is also limited to certain powers. Congress has lots of powers listed in the constitution as well. The author helps me to provide evidence by providing a chart if things the senate approves of involving treaties and things that the president should apply executive agreement. "The evolution of the presidency”, an excerpt from American Government Online Textbook, helps me to argue that congress was once the dominant branch and then the balance of power shifted to the president. This source allows me to express this point by allowing me to get an understanding of the constitution and what the right are for the executive branch under article II of the constitution. Also the president must have certain qualifications in order to be president and obtain power. These qualifications are also outlined in article II of the constitution.
