Christians believe it is always possible for the criminal to repent and change his/her ways? Jesus rules out revenge/retaliation as a motivation for punishing criminals? Punishment should allow for the possibility that the prisoner might reform his ways? Christians should not be judgmental? Christians should forgive those who wrong them? ALL ARE TRUE! Execution as a punishment for a person who has committed a crime. What types of capital punishment have they heard of? All of these crimes have led to capital punishment in the year 2012 Who still uses the death penalty? Reported executions in 2012 (many didn’t report them! The ones that didn’t report or didn’t report all are shown to have a + next to them!) Afghanistan Bangladesh 1 Belarus 3 + unknown Botswana 2 China executes more than any all the countries here together but keeps it private Gambia 9 India 11 Iran Iraq Japan North Korea 6 + Pakistan 1 Palestinian Authority in Gaza Saudi Arabia 79 + Somalia 6 + South Sudan 5 + Sudan Taiwan 6 UAE 1 USA 43 (15 of these were in Texas, 6 Mississippi, 6 Arizona) Yemen 28 + At least 23,286 known people were in prison awaiting the death penalty at the end of 2012.
