Background SPRING Singapore:
Agency under the Ministry of Trade and Industry, responsible for helping Singapore enterprises grow and build trust in Singapore’s products and services. Consumer Protection, Weights & Measures Division (CW): Administer Singapore’s Weights and Measures Programme. Ensure uniform and accurate system of weights and measures. Protect consumer and trader interest by regulating the use of weighing and measuring instruments used for trade, and pre-packaged goods.

Background To ensure a uniform and accurate system of weights and measures in Singapore: Register approved pattern of weighing and measuring instruments. Designate Authorised Verifiers to perform stamping and verification on weighing and measuring instruments for trade use. Inspect weighing and measuring instruments used for trade, pre-packaged goods, or goods sold to ensure that they are not short weight/measure. Investigate feedback/complaints pertaining to weight and measure matters.

Future initiatives Development of Standards for Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Established a Technical Committee on LNG Bunkering Aim to help industries transit to the usage of more sustainable fuels for bunkering Standards will also look into the guidelines in determining the quality and quantity measurement Challenges Resources and expertise Relevant infrastructure to support developments
