2. WHAT IS STAND FOR
A student led group focused on the fusing together of skills sets and creativity to disseminate information about commonly unknown humanitarian crises through the media, to the broader college community.

3. WHY MEDIA
As students of a technologically dependent world the media plays a critical role in creating and relaying relevant news to the public
Media allows students to “Be the change they want to see” as they disseminate news and spread awareness with their peers on social networks like Youtube and Facebook

4. Working with Others
This approach to humanitarian crises allows students to work with global actors like Save the Children and Islamic Relief

9. Why Pakistan?
In July of 2010 heavy monsoon floods hit the provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Punjab, and Baluchistan in Pakistan resulting in its classification as one of the most worst natural disasters
According to the UN News Centre, the floods have, “...Claimed more than 1,800 lives and have affected more than 20 million others.” ( )
The UN has claimed this to be the, “Worst such disaster the UN has faced.” ( )

10. Humanitarian Crises Don’t Disappear
The UN proposed a 2 billion dollar appeal for aid in Pakistan but has only received 49% of that funding (UN News Centre)
Pakistan’s needs extend short term fixes
The most viable solution is finding long-term ways to rebuild the devastated regions
