- Plentiful domestic flights and excellent transport make Kyoto very convenient to access The nearest international airport to Kyoto is the Kansai international airport. It takes 75 minutes from the Kansai international airport and about 1 hour from Osaka international airport (Itami airport) to the Kyoto city, so there is no stress when travelling between the airport and the city center. Kyoto is so well connected to the rest of Japan that you can choose to land at any of the international gateways around the country. For example, one popular route is landing in Tokyo Haneda (HND) and taking a connecting flight to Osaka Itami (ITM). From ITM, Skygate Taxis can easily take you to your hotel door in about an hour for a fixed price. ● Foreign Arrivals per month ???? JR Haruka Express Train 75 minutes/3,080 JPY (approx. 30 USD) The JR Haruka express train takes just a little over an hour to arrive at Kyoto Station from Kansai International Airport. The train is designed for travelers carrying luggage and has plenty of stowage space. Destinations are announced in both Japanese and English, making it easy to arrive ready for anything in Kyoto. Shuttle Taxi 95 minutes – direct to your hotel door / 3,600 JPY (approx. 35 USD) Travelers arriving off long-haul flights with heavy baggage are always happy to see the uniformed shuttle taxi driver who will take the weight off your shoulders and guide you to your hotel door. The taxi journey takes a little over an hour depending upon traffic conditions and the location of your hotel. Services run between Kansai International Airport & Osaka (Itami) Airport, and Kyoto. Airport Limousine Bus 95 minutes / 2,550 JPY (approx. 25 USD) Excellent limousine express bus services are available from both Kansai International Airport (KIX) and Osaka (Itami) Airport (ITM) to Kyoto Station. The journey to Kyoto Station from KIX takes about 105 minutes. The buses have ample luggage space, all announcements are made in English, and you can reserve a seat or just take the next departure. 12

Kyoto is often referred to as the “30 minutes city”; because most separate destinations can be reached within half an hour. As opposed to convention passes of other cities, with the Kyoto Convention Pass everything is combined into just one card. You can freely decide which day of your event to use them. Foreign Friendly Taxi Service The foreign friendly taxi system is a certification for taxis especially for non-Japanese passengers. The first ever foreigner only taxi stand was set up at Kyoto Station. (No extra charges apply) Drivers are required to take a foreign language seminar, and be trained in customer service. Credit cards and traffic IC cards are can be accepted. More than two pieces of luggage are able to fit in the taxi.
